i think astro should make a "message" icon with 2 way communication....we can accept and send message, but sadly, asto oni 1 way....cannot send system...guess so..

That's totally contradictory on what CS told me about how they survey how many channels go how many people watch tho. She claim that the decoder can send back viewing statistics wor...

Anyway, lucky I not yet update. Now not planning to update.

netken,

In ur case, it is better to pillar box and select wide zoom on your TV. The scalar in ur display is better than what the box is capable of doing.
*
You "purists" should consider that not all TV enable scaling in HDMI. And if you're using a DVI/HDMI monitor that can do 50Hz, no scaling at all.

i also did call Astro last nite and they promise to call me back 4 hours later.

no calls after that - typical ... sad.gif

Typical.

That's good to hear. Now, about those lies regarding F1 in HD and the 10 HD channels by end of year, and the lies the salesman told me about the channels I asked for when I signed up last year...

I dunno - they said they would broadcast F1 on ESPN HD - and they did. did they say it was sourced from HD?
*
Right. That's very slick advertising on their end. Say it would be on HD channel, but purposely leave out the detail about it being NOT in HD. Cue gullible people who don't know better falling left and right. And the sad thing is, people cannot take legal action because they did deliver their promise of the race on HD channel.

N in Asia someone said only 8 or 9 HD channels only available
*
I also said that, based on what I've seen Starhub and MioTV carrying.

QUOTE(dxjb @ Mar 18 2010, 02:54 AM)
Don take the words of the staff for granted..
They are just on the Customer Service department
Even TallJustin who works on the tech team at Astro doesnt know anything about new channels until it is launched
*
Idk. I've given up oredi. Usually when I call up to enquire they'd say that they're still discussing. Then last time I call the CS flipped me off like that by saying outright that they're not going to bring in the channels. Definitely next call will be termination request mad.gif

It's made even worse that TM IPTV has the channels, but they don't serve my area. mad.gif vmad.gif

But you can use it for 16:9 SD channel that has closed caption subtitle like History Channel without losing too much picture
*
How many channel has Closed Caption? They should start to work on converting to using CC already. Open Captioning is embarrassing if done wrong (seen it happen on RTM and TV9 very, very often) and irritating.

# RTM1
# RTM2
# DWTV
# Channel News Asia
# BBC Knowledge
# BBC Lifestyle
# CBeebies
# Fashion TV SD
# Fashion TV HD

Astro salesman promised me that they're bringin in CBeebies when I asked last year. Now CS day they won't bring in anything from BBC other than World News cry.gif

TM should think about selling IPTV to streamyx 4MB subscribers. If they do I'll upgrade to 4MB immediately.

uhmm... you'd die for CBeebies?

Long story lah, over the years I have accumulated a list of shows on that channel recommended to me by my buddies of a kids show discussion board (I joined out of the interest of Arthur -note my avatar-, and it just ballooned from there), and one show on the channel has very special and nostalgic meaning to me.
