Good question !! now its just back to original status, I feel pillar box and zooming using Tv seettings  to fit to screen was  far better then now fit to screen using beyond, the Zoom option could have been left as an option. hmm.gif

maybe zoom just plain sucks thats why astro remove it i guess..but yea, according to the poll there is some who likes to watch in zoom. but well...

majority vs minority.... notworthy.gif
surely majority wins right?
But astro should just keep that "zoom" mode....
because someone really needs it....

But you can use it for 16:9 SD channel that has closed caption subtitle like History Channel without losing too much picture

N in Asia someone said only 8 or 9 HD channels only available

I also said that, based on what I've seen Starhub and MioTV carrying.

Don take the words of the staff for granted..
They are just on the Customer Service department
Even TallJustin who works on the tech team at Astro doesnt know anything about new channels until it is launched

Idk. I've given up oredi. Usually when I call up to enquire they'd say that they're still discussing. Then last time I call the CS flipped me off like that by saying outright that they're not going to bring in the channels. Definitely next call will be termination request mad.gif

It's made even worse that TM IPTV has the channels, but they don't serve my area. mad.gif vmad.gif

How many channel has Closed Caption? They should start to work on converting to using CC already. Open Captioning is embarrassing if done wrong (seen it happen on RTM and TV9 very, very often) and irritating.

I left my unit on stand by since yesterday night 11 PM, no update yet...

Tonight if I go back and see the damn aspect ratio still out of sort, I am going to call and ask for rebate.

Why not Pillar Box, Zoom, Stretch? Then everyone would be happy. thumbup.gif

They must be really stupid or it's some kinda technical limitation.

Open-captioning
Similar to subtitling, open captions are always visible; they are "burned" onto the videotape and no decoder or a built-in TV decoder chip is needed to view them. They are usually white letters with a black rim or drop shadow. A wide variety of fonts is available for open-captioning, allowing the use of upper- and lower-case letters with descenders that drop below the baseline. The options for caption placement are great, permitting location anywhere on the screen.

Closed-captioning
Closed captions are not normally visible; a decoder or television with a decoder chip is necessary to view them. They are generally white capital letters encased in a black box. However, newer technology will soon allow color text and color background, as well as latitude in the type of fonts that can be used and where captions can appear.

Hope thats clear.. biggrin.gif

Open Caption - Subtitle is always there

Astro salesman promised me that they're bringin in CBeebies when I asked last year. Now CS day they won't bring in anything from BBC other than World News cry.gif

TM should think about selling IPTV to streamyx 4MB subscribers. If they do I'll upgrade to 4MB immediately.
