yup astro people mess it up big time, temporary fix is to set your byond box to pillar box, then if your HDTV is capable, let it stretch it out

I blogged on how to do it

http://stinkyfruit.wordpress.com/2010/03/1...how-to-stretch/

the main thing is knowing how to set your TV correctly. You should be able to set the Component to stretch (probably by setting it to 16:9 input) and not affect the HDMI channel aspect ratio.
Then using just the b.yond remote you can see stretched channels via component/composite connection and HD via the HDMI input.

Maybe u miss understand here. Actually we are here discuss about SD/Non-HD channel on byond and that what we paid every month. If u think we are not billed for byond than u are totally wrong.

Yes i know we not paying anything yet for HD channel, that why we not comment anything about HD here.

We disscuss about stretch mode that we want back because it has be taking off by astro. Stretch mode is only affect on SD/Non-HD channel.
Hope u clearly understand what happen here.  whistling.gif

you can still use TV stretch function through component output. Byond suppose to start billing on April, now basically you are paying just the same as normal SD price, so treat it as a normal decoder with no HDMI. A free HD decoder and few months of free HD, its only fair to give Astro time to fix this minor issue, instead some people are over reacting. Thank you for your polite comment

do Astro expect us to use Composite for our SD then change to hdmi just to watch HDs channel? Sorry to say, that is just plain stupid.

TallJustin has been feeding us information regarding byond even before it's available to us.. give him some slack and let the astro management have their meeting on monday and all we can do is keep on pressuring them and they will definitely do something about it.. rather than shooting forumers here putih putih creating unnecessary havoc in here wink.gif

Hamas,
i think you are not clear why most of us feel upset.

1) astro took away the strecth option away
2) for Plasma owner, pillar box will damage the TV in the long run.

You are the minority here, who like the pillar box. good for you, but we just want back the stretch option, thats all.

3) dont tell me, just because we only going to be charged RM20, next month, we are not entitled to voice out our anger. We have a contract, before we sign on the dotted line, we were promised so much, but little so far to suggest Astro can deliver. F1 in HD? what is that? Astro must be joking if they consider that as HD...

if Astro have over 70% of HD channels, i don mind to do it, but only 5 channels. some more the sound quality with component(rca audio out) will be very soft until i cant hear any...

Hamas just shut up.. you don't own an astro byond decoder... Ur previous comments clearly showed that you moronic imbecile...

To all forumers please refer previous posts made by Hamas.. he clearly has no idea of how an astro byond decoder functions... But for some reason he does like calling people kids.. perhaps because he is one
