Actually, those HD player are so overated that ppl. are starting to think in order to play HD materials, need to get a standalone HD player. A PC should do better if it can output the same resolutions to a LCD screen. Only thing is if you wanna upgrade you system later than you need an additional Soundcard etc

Actually its depend on you. I like use my pc as HTPC because i can play all type of file format. Quality is great. HD player just support certain format only.

Instead of selling off for a mere RM150, I connect my old Pentium 4 PC to my LCD and of course PC is 10x more superior than stand alone media player ( except the form factor). With PC, you can play all type of files and watch youtube on TV.

PC can read whatever you want.Don't have to spent another hundred bugs to get HD player You need a decent PC with a decent graphic cards to play high quality HD material and that itself can cost a lot. On the other hand you can buy a very good standalone media player to play the highest bitrate HD movies without any lag for a little more than RM400. You do the math.

Something to think about... Your HD 5850 graphic card alone cost about RM900. A reasonable cheap HD media player is about RM400. If your PC with HD 5850 graphic card can't play HD movies then you are throwing away good money!
