I doubt you could carry the DB, that is even if you manage to alter it to the right size.

The jacket is obviously too large for you. Taking in the chest and waist may still be possible but reducing the shoulder width is very risky, it may even ruin the whole piece.
Even if a master alterations tailor manages to do the job, do you think you can carry the look? I seriously doubt so. |

Is that the suit you made out of the cloth from British Fabrics? Cut is too baggy. Should be slimmed down, sleeve length is ok.

QUOTE(PiggyAikz @ Mar 25 2012, 11:59 PM) Never thought of it that way. If you want something closest to black but not black, go for dark or midnight navy. Charcoal grey would be a fine colour too. Since this would be my first suit and would probably be the only one for now. and i would probably use it for most of my formal functions (work and dinners/events) what colour would you guys recommend me for my first suit. and also... some people have recommended me to get a fused suit instead of a half or full canvased suit since i would not be wearing it often and fused suit would be much more affordable. what are you thoughts on this guys? i dont mind spending a lil more since i will only have one suit for now. and this suit will be my "universal" suit for all suit up events. Whether to get a fused or canvassed really depends on how much you're willing to spend. What are the differences? Does the construction of the suit really matter to you? Read this - http://www.styleforum.net/t/269171/canvas-...it-construction. It may a bit technical but an excellent guide nonetheless. |

The 'coolness' of a cloth does not depend only on the weight, but on the weave and porosity as well. 11oz cloth in a twill weave will feel different from a fresco weave with the same weight.
300g vs 290g, what's the difference? 35g for a full suit so it doesn't really matter. 8/9oz is fine for hot climates. |

Leather gloves go with biker jackets not suits. Unless you need them for winter in which case it will be hard to get a decent pair in MY.

Perhaps you should post in or create a glove thread instead of posting this here.

QUOTE(giotto @ May 30 2012, 06:24 PM) Guys, been looking thru this thread with great interest. I must say, quite alot of good info. Looking to make my first suit and i've got a few tailors in mind at the moment but the only problem (besides having tonnes of money) is deciding on a design that suits me. Could you please recommend a website or a magazine that i can browse and checking out different suit designs. http://www.styleforum.net/t/253439/waywrn-...f-fame-pre-2010And then there are magazines like GQ, Esquire etc if you are looking for a trendier cut. |

That goes without saying...I wanted to suggest thekerbau for a taste of the local scene but it is still a relatively young forum, not as comprehensive as SF.

Waist alteration is doable for a competent tailor. As long as the shoulders are ok I'd say go for it.

3.5m is enough for most Asian unless you happen to be a national basketball player.
Anyway a suit does not usually come into contact with bare skin often, so I don't mind if it's not silky smooth. I would ask the seller regarding the weave, an open weave vs twill would make quite a difference. |

Wear whatever you want when you visit for the first time. Only during subsequent fittings should you dress up.
