alot of us in this country have bought modded xbox 360 for the sake of really cheap games with the pain of not able to go online and do updates.

as a VICTIM of purchasing such. i need a way out of this hell hole. i need to un-mod my xbox 360. has anyone tried of succeeded in un-modding their console?

How come you consider yourself a 'VICTIM'? Did the seller mislead you into buying a modded console? Were you not made aware that you're buying a modded console?

Furthermore, what made you suddenly have a change of heart? That you just realized how fun it is to play online or you just think it's morally wrong to buy pirated games?

As for your question, I recall one of the retailers at 'Sungei Wang' gave me a choice of removing the modded 'chip' from the Xbox 360 he was selling since he didn't have unmodded one for sale. I refused his offer 'cause it was still a risk since he'd be messing up with the hardware.

So in conclusion, it's probably possible. But I don't know if that changes the situation if your account is already banned.

u can unmod the drive firmware, but so far its pointless. If ur console is modded by others the default files (kernel keys) which is unique to each console "so m$ can keep track" has been removed and loaded with standard firmware with cloaking capablities. in other words u can boot a unmodded firmware using someone elses keys.

an alternate way its to get a unmodded RROD x360 drive and do a swap. however, this is also risk, m$ can also check if the drive differ to the console production. Ppl usually do this just to play game from different region.

If you ever walk into some unknown game shop somewhere, you'll be shocked that the fact that these shop tend to brainwash you so that you'll think XBOX360 is meant to be modded!

These shop either told you XBOX360's game is more pricier than PS3 counterpart or laugh at you for not following their false trend ala Ajaran Sesat.

Imaging such a propaganda is pushed to an untrained ears!

and TS, it's pointless to unmod your console. Once you console is modded there'll be a trail in your console waiting M$ to find it and flag you console for a future ban.

Sell it to someone and buy new unmodded one. You can sell it off & look for sellers in LYN for such console.

hm.... i thought u just need to get the original firmware for your drive and flash it back to stock? correct me if im wrong...

Microsoft historically had a way to track down people with tempered firmware. No matter you change back to original firmware or not.

Based on such historically proven ban-mayhem, We'd suggest you don't try that.

It is possible but you'll have to jump through a lot of hoops just to do it. do a search on the net and you'll find your answers. The easiest way out of this 'hell-hole' is to trade in your console for a brand new one. It'll cost approx 800 to do the exchange.

Btw. Your account is not banned. Only your console. Plugging in your current hard disk to a new Xbox360 will connect you to Live nonetheless.

No matter what you do, as long as your console is modded, you better avoid signing into Live if you dont want the banhammer surprise.

Long Answer: NO I dont think so. Listen to the advice above and trade/sell it off for a new unmodded one. Also, buy these consoles from reliable shops only. I'd avoid shops selling anything remotely pirated unless you really know their business practices.

just sell it off, lots of ppl wants em.. Esp if its a jasper and get a new unit.

I also bought a modded Xbox as the sales person said is better as more choices of games are available coz the price of a pirated game is cheap. Well, in a way he's tryin to earn more from repeat sales of his pirated games but at the other hand he's also giving me the chance to play more games coz he knows an original game is very costly. I played happily all this while until I started to play COD. The game is awesome. I started to feel regret coz I can't logged on to Xbox live to play online. I'm now a big fan of COD MW2. I'm also thinkin the same question, can I unmod my Xbox? Well, if can't I jz need to trade it out and get a new one. Anyone got other options for me?

No other option. trade & change then respect the game developer by paying them. not to pirate sellers.

i dont think buying unmodded 360 will be a good idea because the games are costly..its simple- modded 360 save money but cant use xbox live, -unmodded 360 can use xbox live but costly games.. I prefer modded one, i rather miss xbox live then spending hundreds on buying games.. I prefer buying ps3 than buying unmodded 360 bcoz its cheaper, comes with hdd, high quality, can play blue ray disc but same game price... This is only my opinion, no hard feeling..

PS3 indeed got more goodies than XBOX360 but remember that the PS3 is not better than XBOX360 in terms of game performance. Do have a comparison on major multi platform title and you'll know what am I talking about.

TBH, if Steam exists on the 360, it would be awesome. Digital contents sold at reasonable pricing is my cup of tea.

The reason why I love PC gaming.

We have xbox live Arcade for this.

The only difference is you have to buy your Microsoft point elsewhere from Malaysia which is not a concern to me coz I also using my Credit card to pay in the end. Just some delays for the currency to points conversion.

One major arcade title usually cost no more than RM40 and games on demands usually cost less than RM120 compared to same DVD title might be priced at RM16x

sorry to bump this old thread, but i can't help but ponder, can i use hd of one console to another?

i'm planning to buy another arcade unmodded console to play ori games and for xbox live. (let's just say the modded elite is just for 'demo'ing the games before buying hihi)

can i use saved games from the elite HDD to my new arcade box?

and by all means i dont support piracy.

you "demo" yr game by downloading the actual Demo from Xbox Live! not by paying rm8.

but anyway about moving HDD from a modded console to unmodded is abit risky dont you think so? if its being flagged, does it ban both units?

not really sure any 1 here tried this b4, but if its for me ill get an entirely new unmodded elite/slim set & sell of the modded & yr so called demo games for some original goodies.

unmodded cant play back up games , while modded can...kindly ask the seller , they will tell you

Microsoft made it harder & harder to mod the xbox360 via new software updates. I doubt you can see the new one modded in this few days

I've used my old HDD from a modded xbox on the new unmodded xbox, both online before... so far so good, no issue at all

yes the save games from the modded elite hdd can be used on the new arcade box, no problem one


no problem for me so far, MS only flagged the modded console via the console ID, not HDD ID
so moving HDD of a flagged console doesn't means the new console also is flagged

if MS want to make x360 unhackable is simple, change the drive to bluray then all kautim liaw...
well... hackable or not still depends on if MS is still using back the old DVD drive of current gen... and hacking the DVD firmware is a lot more easier compared to hacking the main board.
I foresee those hackers will release the modded console before end of this year, and who knows? within this 3 months?

at the moment, i am one of them and not proud of it...
but i do believe that original is the right way to go.. thats why i'm hoping that the slim can never be hacked.. that way, when i upgrade to slim, i will be forced to buy original games.. heheh... its typical malaysian mentality maa.... if u can get someting cheaper, sure u'd go for it, right?? but if all is the same price, u'd still buy em if you really want it.. best example is PS3...

Games are expensive. True. But actually that educates us in a lot of things. For myself I only buy games that is worth buying. Only good and proven quality games. So u dont have to fork out money everytime a new game comes out. Pirated games are of coz really cheap. So u tend to buy every game available. In the end, u dont even play those games anyway. Waste money also...

stumbled upon this topic and wud like to raise a question... where exactly can you trade in your modded xbox ? you guys know which store takes them? reason i am asking is because, if it is modded, i can't think of anyone buying them right now ... why i bought it, yes because of the cheap games, but i want to stop that now. I want to get a new slim 360 with the kinetic which is original.

u can sell it as second hand, with a cheap price including all yr ahem games. but make sure u know yr console had no issue, or else ppl will come back to u.

with that $ you can buy yr new console, or u can buy new console then take yr time selling yr modded console.

how much is the second hand price including 2 controllers and games? So far no issue at all. i have not noticed anyhting lah....
