Does anyone know what is the chipset beneath this modem router? If possible, thinking to flash it to DD-WRT

Probably it's just another rebranded OEM stuff.
Call them and see if it can be flashed to DD-WRT.

It's a new modem router given free by TM for the Blockbluster deal. It replaces the previous Riger DB-108

I google to find its chipset but no results found.

I also attempted to use Routertech.org Router Upgrade Checked but I can't get the correct telnet password.

The wireless performance is surprisingly good for its short but non-removable antenna.

The cost is definitely less than MYR80 in order for TMNet to replace Riger with that.

this modem sux , it will disconnected and internet idle for certain period after online, you unable to reconnect to WAN , unless you restart the modem.

I go to innacomm.com.my and get zero of the support in firmware update, i think this OEM really useless.

So which is better ? Riger or Innacomm?

I've given an option to switch to Riger by the contractor.

My friend has Riger, I had Innacomm. Stability wise, it seems that Innacomm is better. I had no disconnection or hanging issues with it. It's just rock solid.

The high pitched sound appears to be inherited by the switching power supply. I attempted to use another power supply and it had no noise.

*
The wireless signal is stronger in relative to another router with even larger antenna gain (5dBi). Not bad for such a small antenna I guess. I'm getting good signals with it all around my house.

It's not about the company, it's about how cheap they can sell the modem to TM.
If you can offer TM an ADSL modem at MYR 20 a piece, you can just snap up their nationwide deployment deal.

Better double check, modem warranty cover both adapter and modem - no adapter how the modem function?

Check your package.

If you prefer to buy own adapter, just make sure the voltage match the modem voltage and can fit the modem power socket;

too low - modem frequent off/on
too high - modem smoke

No problem so far, at first the internet will disconnect itself after a while when I downloading. After I changed the maximum download rate, no problem disconnect problem. This modem cannot handle high download bandwidth, so need to lower down to resolve the disconnect issue. But I don't like is this modem cannot remote access into and need fix line sad.gif

me too have connection problem with Innacomm W3400.
Connection sometimes appears sometimes not. Even though it appeared with 3 bars good signal, you can't connect to it. And after the 1st attempt to connect to wifi, the network will be lost from the" nearby wifi list".

Funny thing is 2 pc (win xp) have this issue, but my own laptop (win xp) has no prob at all.

The pc that has this issue have 2 OS. It does not happen to Win 7 though.

Previously, I dont have all these troubles using belkin wifi router. Very bad quality of innacom and wonder why tm chose them. yuck!

Hey do you guys know where can i find the power adapter for this Innacomm modem W3100?

My modem power adapter spoil and tmnet asked me to purchase from compputer shop. So was wondering anybody know where can i find it?
They said they only provide warranty for the modem not the adapter.  sad.gif

Hey i found out that aztechs modem only DSL605E's power cord fits and works well on the innacom.... Hope i helped you.
The first thing i did with the innacom modem is to try my old power cords... amazingly, it fitted PERFECTLY and works as well.

Added on October 18, 2010, 8:56 pmnow i have speed less than 512kbps.. what's wrong?? and the data led is blinking. is it normal?

Sometimes my gf's laptop cant surf, cant connect.. and cant even find the wifi.

hey kenv09 im having the same issues as you are. seems like mobile phones which includes milestone n iphone have difficulties connecting to the wifi.. it can succesfully connect with a good signal bar but it just wouldnt surf. i've tried various methods to fix this by fiddling with the security settings and also the wireless channel but no luck. any luck on solving this anyone? it seems that im not the only one with this problem.

I have the same problem too. I called Innatech Sdn Bhd (the one supplying the modem to TM, they asked me to call TM). Call TM, they ask you to call the installer. You call the installer, he said .... aaaaaaaaaaaa

Cut the long story short ... TM modem sucks!!!

Innacomm models use Realtek which is not a good wireless chipset.

RTL8671/RTL8671P
http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/product...onn=3&ProdID=87

Broadcom-based wireless chipset is better which is used in TP-LINK TD-W8960N...

Yes, but you need to enable Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) mode. You need to enter the PIN ID on the client if you used the PIN mode of the router WPS setup.

Meaning that I cannot use the normal (WEP/WPA-PSK) security method?
This is so trouble..... I don't want to kacau my housemate (they also sharing the same connection) whereby I have to go and authenticate the PIN on their laptop.

from the page you given, i don't see any "not a good wireless chipset" point been highlighted.
but i believe it might be true, as I try to ping the c2pid Innacomm w3400v inside my room, i get avg. 400ms of latency,
this is soooooo la unacceptable, just 2 meters away from the router with a normal house wall in between only.

was considering wanna buy a TD-w8960N or not, looks like shld go for it?
can it enable UPnP with a simple "tick" ? I don't want WPS... =.=

Yes, TD-W8960N supports UPnP

How to set up UPnP in TD-W8960N

4.4.12 UPNP

Choose “Advanced Setup”→“Upnp”, you can Enable or Disable the UPnP (Universal Plug and
Play) protocol on the screen.
UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is a distributed, open networking standard that uses TCP/IP for
simple peer-to-peer network connectivity between devices. An UPnP device can dynamically join
a network, obtain an IP address, convey its capabilities and learn about other devices on the
network. In turn, a device can leave a network smoothly and automatically when it is no longer in
use. UPnP broadcasts are only allowed on the LAN

Thanks alot for your help smile.gif
hopefully TP-link can boost my home wifi performance.

With the W3400v, both my Macbook and Mac mini wifi stop working after idle for like ~15mins.
wifi signal still connected, but traffic doesn't move, can't even ping the router itself.
hopefully it is the router problem and not my mac tongue.gif

Why don't you buy AirPort Extreme? It can also be set up on Windows PC (Note: AirPort base station is not a web-based administration)

yea, my personal advise, either you use W3400v as modem only (Bridge mode), or throw it away and buy a new router modem.

Just subscribed to blockbuster deal last week, given this modem by TM. I do not have any router, that's why W3400v work as my wireless router too. The wireless connection constantly stop working after my Mac idle for like 10-15 mins, I have to restart modem or disable/re-enable my Mac NIC to make it work again. No UPnP option unless turn on the WiFi-Protected Setup which I don't want. Ping to the modem wirelessly I get average of 400ms latency!! This is soooo oh my god!

Bought an TP-Link wireless N router, UPnP work, wireless connection work, Ping wirelessly get average 2-5ms, everything working fine smile.gif Happily store the W3400v back to it's coffin (box tongue.gif).

read some guys recommend tplink 8960n here , yup it is a good device with good wireless tx power. when upgraded to 9dbi, it really works like a charm!

just think in this way, if tm'free modem are fairly good, then the modem/router market shouldn't still being so hot, right? why ppl still go out buy modem/router instead of using free one? there must be a reason.

Indeed! get a td-8960N (wireless N), tht's what i bought to replace W3400V and it work flawlessly.
Or you can get a tp-link wireless G for less than RM90 biggrin.gif

More possibilities.
