hi to all the Sifus out there,

currently, im looking for a AVR system for home theatre, could be complete set or maybe a AVR from yamaha/ denon / pioneer or whatever then seperate speaker sets.

im looking for a 5.1 channel system, looking to hook these stuffs on!

1. LG LCD
2. XBOX 360
3. home desktop PC
4. DVD player (Philips)
5. PS3 (dont have it yet, but soon in the near future)

all 1-4 already have HDMI cables.

basically! i only visited 3 shops for the AVR - CMY(Sunway), Acoustique Systems (Amcorp), Kota damansara AV.

My choices are:

1. Denon 1610
2. Denon 1910 (abit way of the budget, will have to cut down on my speaker system)
3. Yamaha RX-V465 + NS-SP280 Speakers set (sorry not very sure about the speaker set, but it really looks very basic and too simple, not sure worth or not)
4. Pioneer HTP -819SW (complete HT with speakers)
5. Pioneer HTP - RS70

Basically! i really dont know about all this stuffs, but i want all my gadgets to have one single source of audio output. i rarely just listen to music, but if i do its mostly R&B or hip hop. But do watch lots of movies, but sorry guys! its mostly the rm8 DVD type or the Downloaded from the WWW type.

i got the prices as follows:

1. denon 1610 - RM1800
2. denon 1910 - RM2600
3. Yamaha - RM2500
4. Pioneer 819 - RM3K ++
5. Pioneer 70 - RM2500

i heard lots of ppl say, spend on the speaker and not on the amps.... so my budget is basically RM3K max. which one should i really go for. i worry the pioneer's amp is not really as good if i were to upgrade to other speakers in future, such as Wharfadale, paradigm, mordaunt-short and etc.

so help me out! what should i do? also, if im buying the denon, i dont know what 5.1 channels to go for. basically i dont mind buying a better amp like 1910, then buy a cheap 5.1 speakers then later upgrade...

thanks....pleaase help...more suggestion are most appreciated.

I'm not experience with other stuff.Currently i'm using pioneer AVR as my main power to drive all my 5.1ch speaker. For me Pioneer have improved a lot in term of audio/video devices technology such as AVR/LCD/Plasma display TV.Maybe you will get review for other stuff from sifu2 here.Good luck..For me buying an amplifier is a main factor you must consider.Amplifier job is to amplified your audio signal from your player and stream in to your driver speaker. How much power it can deliver depends on its capabilities.Your speaker also playing important rule to produce good Q sound. How come cheaper speaker can give you good Q sound as xpensive speaker can thumbup.gif .Don't forget your speaker power must matching with your amplifier. It's not worth buying 190w/ch amplifier to support 100w speaker. So invest biggrin.gif more for get GOOD Q amplifier is worth for your money.Dont waste your money to buy cheap2 amplifier coz soon i can conform you will upgrade it

thanks for the feedback guys!

basically! i got my stuffs already!
firstly i got it from Acoustique Systems at Amcorp mall, dont know about the other guys here, but Mr.Lim is a very nice fellow, can sit down discuss and negotiate the budget. gives demo and also tell you want to spend on and what not to waste. well! maybe it true that some ppl say he is LSLY because he dont entertain ppl who comes in without even knowing what he wants to get....ppl who mainly window shopping!

anyway! my setup as follows, this price is below RM4K.

1. Yamaha RX-V465 (highly recommended - but the user manual really sucks, need to depend on sifu to help on FAQ)
2. Mordaunt-Short Carnival 1 x 2 pairs (for Front and Rear Surround)
3. wharfedale subwoofer
4. Mordaunt-Short Carnival Centre speaker
5. HDMI 1.3 x 2
6. Digital Optical cable (for PC)
7. Subwoofer cables + 25M speaker cables (will upgrade very soon)

anyway! i already tried it...very powerful for a small room, i think i will under utilise this system.

the woofer is really powerful! but the best is the speakers ...really fantastic -really clear...much better then the Pioneer HTP-819SW complete set. and to top that all! its only about RM500 more compared to the pioneer.

just my little feedback...still testing it out! future upgrades will be better cables.
