QUOTE(SpIcYjOe @ Mar 13 2010, 11:46 PM) good or not depends on you.altho it is upgradable, but then you should know that with the pace Android/HTC is moving, well, Magic may not get so much of attention. if you want to keep the price to the min, and doesn't mind being in the same level while others have all the newer stuff, then it's good for you =) |

And thus, news are coming out that version 2.1 is to be released for Heros. And yes, this situation happens to most technology devices, however, Android is new, and the newer versions will come out much faster than other OSes, thus, getting a 'newer generation' of phone is preferable, IMHO. |

wah don't want! HTC Tattoo design even worst!!! lol... the big giant button spoil the look... how i wish magic can hold hero firmware with no problem... but anyways, for a basic user like me, want to sms, online, call and ebuddy only... is magic good enough? basically, i sometimes do take random photos too....
and also, i want to know does the magic have any lag to it when its in the gallery... LG Viewty is super lag where u need to wait about 7-8 second to load one single image... This post has been edited by SpIcYjOe: Mar 15 2010, 09:39 PM |

i'm not sure bout the lagging issue as you mentioned, but yes, for very basic uses like online and sms, it's already sufficient.
a higher version is usually preferred to contain more new and advanced apps or games. |

FYI, apart from the 3.5mm jack and 5mpx camera Hero and Magic is virtually having the same hardware. In fact, in some instances you can use Hero's Recovery and also, i want to know does the magic have any lag to it when its in the gallery... But i did some research on the net and some said it will lag a bit and some feature don't work properly... is that true? |

lag - hmmm this is a bit subjective .. and also dependent on the cpu & memory load at that time. The way to measure performance, i'm using Linpack for Android from greencomputing http://www.greenecomputing.com/apps/linpack/
you can check the submitted results as reference http://www.greenecomputing.com/apps/linpac...pack-by-device/ you can compare the performance of hero and magic some feature don't work properly ?? such as ??? This post has been edited by mikeeeee: Mar 16 2010, 04:39 PM |

And about the lag issue, all i want is it don't lag/delay while loading image... It takes about 30 second to go from standby to opening an image... Will the HTC Magic be that lag or it still have a lag feel to it? i mean like delay while opening gallery, will it be as smooth as Sony Ericsson or iPhone? |

ok, the below is purely my own experience, others experience may differ
previously i was using MyHero 2.0.5(Hero Based Sense ROM) and it serves me quite well, everything seems to work normal, call, sms, LED, trackball lights, ringer, gps, wifi, bluetooth, data, camera and all. Currently I'm using CursorSense 1.2.6.1(Magic Based Sense ROM) and its slightly smoother/snappier compare to MyHero. only thing that is considered crippled is the Bluetooth File Transfer. As of now, there are no Sense ROM (cupcake 1.5) that support bluetooth file transfer. about the lag, if you compare to iPhone then i would say yes, there is but its definitely NOT 30 seconds, not even close. To open up gallery is almost instance, but it may take 2-3 seconds to load all those thumbnails (currently i have about 50 over images and 7 videos on my sdcard) , to open a single image is almost instant I've tried some 2.1 roms thats available, they feel even faster and snappier however certain feature still not fully available (LED, camera partially works etc etc). I'm waiting for a fully working 2.1 ROM then i'll migrate Hope that helps |

haha, no worries ... those are android version codename
- cupcake =1.5 - donut = 1.6 - eclair = 2.0~2.1 Sense is HTC custom interface on top of Android OS, something like TouchFlo in winmo. you will definitely get familiar with these terms once you get your Magic. Regarding when to buy, its entirely up to you man ...hahaha good luck This post has been edited by mikeeeee: Mar 18 2010, 12:37 AM |
