I just called the SA... they say now the 3k discount against the sales price is for the 2010 model but if want 2011 model must wait till April before they can confirm if there's any discount being offered.

Sigh.. so nearly decided to book the car this weekend and now this setback.

Try another SA or dealer/distributor, as far as I know the RM 3k overtrade discount is applicable to 2011 model as well.

ooo.. Thanks Ben83.. will surely check around then. Any particular ones to recommend?

I am really worried that the car shall hang in workshop for days and need to take LRT to work.

I suggest you direct this question to the numerous Sonata owners who already are driving their cars for several month on Autoworld forum bro. Sounds like a very valid concern.

hey guys how do we do trade in if our current car is already fully paid? need to hand in my current car, then wait 3 months for the new sonata? how much is the interest rate that you get?
*
Chester... I suggest you try selling off the car yourself since it's paid off. Just approach your SA and request for direct rebate on the discount they are offering.

For the waiting period, I hear the next few shipments are in high numbers (units of Sonata) so they seem confident in delivering within 2mths but once again check with your SA on this.

They are offering me 2.6% from PBE

Guys, im planning to get sonata next month..i have a question abt the trade discount..i have a car under my dad's name and he's still servicing the loan which is finishing next year..can the 'dummy' trade in still be executed? is RON 95 sufficient for high spec 2.0?
*

can the 'dummy' trade in still be executed?

yes, you just need to provide your SA your dad's original grant.

is RON 95 sufficient for high spec 2.0?

from other Sonata YF owners, yes it runs perfectly.

3k dc only?
i rather wait 3 yrs and buy a used one for rm60k

You can get a 1yr old Sonata from Sime Darby (manager's car) for 126k

I have a good feeling all the new Hyundai will have very strong resale value from Sonata onwards. The new Avante which I heard is coming in Sept is another beauty.

Actually in my case back in Feb this year when I needed to return my company car, I was heart set on getting the Accord (Teana and Camry looked too old for a young fart like me, so they were both not even on my list although I went to test drive them) but then they didn't take booking at the time cause the new facelift was about to be launched. So I went next door (at Glenmarie) to the Hyundai showroom and my jaw dropped when I first laid eyes on the Sonata. What a beauty... won my heart over at first glance.

What made my mind up eventually was:
- Dashboard - which is the one and only thing I disliked about the Accord cos it was too cluttered and hated it immensely.
- Features - for the price which was the cheapest among those cars I was looking at (Accord & Mazda6) comes with the MOST features.
- Sunroof+Moonroof - my baby daughter expression when the SA open it was priceless... enuf said tongue.gif

So I guess the rest is history smile.gif
