Game Info:
MAG started off as being short for Massive Action Game but it is now pronounced "Mag" or "in the MAG". It is an online military style first person shooter game that has been designed to have titanic two hundred and fifty six player battles as the core of the game. There is no off line story part and there are no bots. It is a live online virtual battle on a gigantic scale. These are designed to be persistent battles that can last to an hour or more and the results of it will effect a constantly evolving global outcome of "The Shadow War".
When you first start to play MAG you create your MAG account. There are no fees to play the game beside the cost of the actual game on the disc. There is no MMORPG tax. You must join one of the three armies and customize your armor and weapons. Fighting in battles will earn you experience points that you can use to get better equipment, skills and eventually go up in rank. When you go up in rank in MAG there are new benefits and responsibilities. You can be promoted to command a squad, a platoon and a company by moving up the chain of command. When a superior officer gives you an order there is nothing forcing you to do it but if you do obey orders you will be rewarded with more XP. If you make a key contribution to the battle you will be even rewarded with more XP. Everyone has free will but if you don't follow orders you are not going to advance your military career in the MAG.
You can customize your face, outfit (from the selection that matches your army), and game voice. There is no soldier class system but you can customize your load out and save three different load outs to choose from in each battle.
There is a themed interface to match your army, in game messages, friends online status. There is pretty much all you need for "clan support" but it is not called "clan support" because your butt is property of your army not some clan.
The game is set a couple decades in the future. After a global economic collapse caused by the Peak Oil energy crisis. This major energy crisis made it economically impossible to stage wars with giant conventional heavily armored armies. The resources are simply too scarce. So the various nation states employ the services of mercenary private military contractor armies (PMCs). These private corporate armies will fight for lucrative government war contracts to capture the ever dwindling natural resources. This scenario is not really science fiction and it pretty much reads like long-term pentagon planning memos for the new crappy face of resource wars and global poverty in the twenty first century. You are fighting for government contracts to try and take food and natural resources by force from other lands. There are no civilians in MAG so there are no moral dilemmas about collateral damage.

Q&A:
Q: Does the game have single player?
A: No, it's for Mulitplayer Only as stated on the cover of the game.
Q: Is there any region lock for online MultiPlayer?
A: No, MP is region free.
Q: Different region from R1, R2, R3 can play together?
A: YES. No region lock.
Q: What is Raven, Valor and S.V.E.R?
A: They are Military groups/faction.
Raven: Raven soldiers are shady and mysterious. Being extremly well-funded, their uniforms are dark, carbon fiber, sleek, clean, high tech, and top-of-the-line. Because of their immense amount of funding, they settle for technology more than manpower in combat situations. However, they aren't lacking in manpower. Although teamwork is not their strongest attribute, they are capable of using complex teamwork to out-perfom the other factions. If you love technology over teamwork and skill, Raven is perfect for you.
Valor: Everyone daydreams of being the rugged, insensitive veteran at least once in their life. As a Valor soldier, you are a muscular, hardcore, home-grown American soldier who knows what it means to value their team and ability to intimidate their enemies. Being of 20th-century appearance, Valor soldiers usually are wearing camo, face-paint, and M4A1s. Although they do not have technology that is up to standard in the eyes of Raven soldiers, their teamwork and skill make up for their lack of efficient technology in the world of Mag. If you love your country, perform great as a team, and like whiskey, choose Valor as your faction.
SVER: Sver soldiers are aggressive, prideful, guerilla-like militia. Despite being considered the underdog by Valor and Raven soldiers, Sver soldiers never give up and fight with their hearts and bretheren. With their punk-like appearance, they strike intimidation and wearniess in any who oppose them. Their ability to come out on top with a low-budget and in the clutch is something that no one should ignore. If you believe that Sver are nothing compared to Valor and Raven soldiers, think again. Their stealthy teamwork should be reckoned with. If you are rebellious and do excellent under pressure, choose Sver as your faction.
Q: Can i coop/play with my PSN friend from different faction?
A: No. You can only coop/play with the faction you have recuited to.
