I have been reading on this issue for some time and this conflict dates all the way back to MW1 where IW tries to get creativity independence and ownership of the franchise based on any post Vietnam games of CoD(include setting in distant future) while,at the same time,Activision tries to control them.

Now,i think Activision got what they wished for, getting rid of the founders so that they can control IW to do whatever they want, with 2 of Activision's executive to replace West and Zampella. They probably know nothing about their games, just like Kotick as they are just businessman, not gamers who tries to sell games.

It is also one of the reasons why MW2 was named as Modern Warfare 2,rather than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when the game first announced. Seems like IW dont want to be associate with the annual CoD franchise for some reason that we dont know. Then, Activision got worried about people not knowing that Modern Warfare 2 is actually a sequel to CoD4, rather than a spin off or new franchise, they added Call of Duty back to the tittle. Note that how small does the CoD word look like on MW2's tittle in the game or the ads.

What i think is,IW isnt very happy to be with Activision all these while, just that things got a bit, say, exciting, recently.

Things become even messed up when there are claims saying that both West and Zampella are contacting Activision's competitors, namely, EA.

A good read at Kotaku @ http://kotaku.com/5483296/kotaku-originals-insanity-ward .

Activision isnt really that nice all along,as Tim Schrafer from Brutal Legends thinks so.

Activision just out to make money and break a few rules here and there. Very normal in corporate world.

There are far worse corporate exploit than losing creativity control and independence and royalty.

Remember the imported milk from China?

More like they are just being an ass, just like what have they done with Harmonix.

Right,it has always been like this.IW do one. Treyarch do another one.

Now,Sledgehammer Games is also developing another CoD game. We gonna get even more of it.

Ousted Modern Warfare 2 Creators Respawn, Sign With Former Rivals

QUOTE
The drama  involving the creators of one of the biggest franchises in gaming continues as Jason West and Vince Zampella, the fired former lead creators of Modern Warfare 2, have formed a new company, Respawn Entertainment. EA, their formal rival, is backing.

The Monday morning news announcing the new company follows a Friday that saw Activision, the mega-publisher that fired Jason West and Vince Zampella from their leadership positions at Modern Warfare development studio Infinity Ward, suing the ousted creators. Activision has accused the duo of misdeeds and subterfuge designed as an alleged attempt to "steal the studio."West and Zampella had sued Activison a month prior following their dismissal from their perches atop Activision-owned Infinity Ward.

But today the two creators are announcing a new company and an exclusive publishing deal with Activision rival Electronic Arts. The new company, based in Encino, California, will make games for the EA Partners label, an arrangement that means it will remain an independent company from EA. West and Zampella's former studio, Infinity Ward, remains wholly owned by Activision.

"Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me," Zampella said in a statement. "For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We're very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA."

"We're excited," West said. "Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve."

While West and Zampella's experience has recently involved military first-person shooters, including EA's Medal of Honor series, which they worked on prior to handling Call of Duty and Modern Warfare for Activision, they offered no details on the new game.

The release indicated only that "the company will focus on creating state-of-the-art gaming experiences for global audiences."

Kotaku will have more on this story as it breaks.

This shit just got way more epic that what i thought.

2015 -> Infinity Ward -> Respawn Entertainment.

Seems like i know where to get my next "CoD" and hopefully,EA will treat them well like DICE. MW2 can go die now.

Activision is gonna get owned badly by EA, as EA has Battlefield, Medal of Honor reboot, and the new "CoD".

Can I say that... we can now very good expectation on new battlefield, medal of honour series? Perhaps in future, medal of honour series will become anothe repic boom. (I means, restore their formal glory again) Hm.... I see light at the end of tunnel.

Impossible.

Respawn will not do any EA's existing franchise like MoH or Battlefield.

They only signed for publication deals, which means EA have no control over their IP and creative processes.

I only hope that EA will put some sense to respawn to include dedicated servers; follow DICE's lead on what they did for BC2.

I hope so too.

Dedicated servers is a must.
