Actually i'm from Kuching... which doesn't have Bose Store. But i had bought Companion 5 and Car Audio Set. Both Bose products for me is great.... just Companion 5 doesn't really have MID-BASS. Then Car Audio Set is cool.

So i don't and never really try to listen 15 Acoustimass set.

despite its poor reputation in hi-fi circles, it still has that "WOW!" factor amongst the unwashed masses. His neighbors and relatives will be impressed smile.gif

However, the important thing is - they won't be the ones listening to it all the time... and if CT Seong starts going round and auditioning other systems, he might find the Acoustimass lacking and overpriced, which by then it will be too late

with all due respect, pls dont put words in my mouth, bro. my response was in specific reference to his post:

@ matyeo - what would you make out of this specs? are the speakers good/bad? does this give you any valuable insight into the speaker's properties (freq range, sensitivity, impedance, recommended amp requirement, max output, etc.)? so what is the manufacturer trying to convey to the consumer here?

My Budget list erm... hmm.gif hmm.gif rclxub.gif

Blu-ray Player --- rm 2000 - rm 3000 (Support DVD-Audio, CD, DVD-Video) MUST BE FREE REGION FOR BD,DVD-Video

A/V Receiver --- rm 3000 - rm 5000 (Support 7.1) MUST BE DECODE HD-DTS, HD-DOBLY, THX...AND OTHERS POPULARS

Home Theater Speakers 6.1 or 7.1 --- rm 4000 to rm 6000 (Support LARGE SPACE like a ground floor SINGLE SHOP like 100 Meters X 80 Meters) MUST NOT HAVE BROKEN SOUND WHEN VOLUME REACHED 75%

Buddies who suggested please note down BRAND and MODEL and Price ofcourse hehehehe thankssssssssssssssssssssssssss alot alot~~!

Added on March 4, 2010, 7:32 pmThe Spec are below:

Compatibility:

WHY I THINK OF BOSE COZ .... IT ONLY MAKE SOUND WITH TWEETERS (NO BROKEN SOUND) AND WOOFER HAS BOSE CIRCUIT BOARD TO CONTROL THE VOLUME, THE HEAT, AND THE OVER LOADING. BOSE DOES SELF PROTECTING...... BESIDE THAT IT WILL AUTO ARRANGE THE SPACING SOUND....Then here many pro buddies said bose is ahham ahham really wonder...

Then i hope to get more choice from all buddies about Brand and Model which BETTER than BOSE

I really wasted quite much speaker set for the end with BROKEN SOUND from speakers

Added on March 4, 2010, 7:36 pmI would buy BOSE with a very simple detail of SPEC coz i know the quality (for truly said .... i also not so sure but i just compare it with Companion 5 and car audio component set) So far those both products i own are not let me down.

does size of the speakers matter? is that why you want the Acoustimass - because it's small enough to hide away? If so then you may want to consider Orb Audio, Anthony Gallo or Monitor Audio Radius. Jamo and Mission Cubes are equally small

Slightly bigger would put you into Paradigm Cinema, KEF Eggs and B&W MT series

although at this point I'm not sure how much the prices of these things are and if they would fit into your budget. But do yourself a favor and investigate other options than the B*se.

because they are factory installed?

Also I think perhaps in an enclosed - and controlled - listening environment, such as a car and a B*se showroom, they can sound reasonable. And although they are overpriced, factory fitted means you pay more to replace it.

lol. when i first read this, i thought our friend might need a PA system rather than a HT system. even for 100ft x 80ft, that's still 8000 sq ft area. hmmm ... maybe PA better after all. lol.

anyway, bro mpyw pretty much covered the bases with his recommendations. for region-free blu-ray playback, there's only a couple in the market that comes pre-modded e.g. Oppo, Momitsu. For some you will need to buy the hardware mod yourself and DIY. some are software hacks e.g. Dune. Much like the others here, I'd suggest you go for the Oppo because you also asked for DVD-A playback. Get it from SLT in Singapore. Go to the Oppo BDP-80 thread for more info.

for avr, maybe just a standalone avr may not have enough juice for such a large space. consider an avr paired with a power amp. not sure what the other bros here think.

lastly, don't forget to factor in the cost of cables that will go around that large area.

no worries, bro. nothing personal. for the record, I know nothing about this product, which is precisely my point - all i am saying is that the specs they (Bose) put out is meaningless to make any informative decision from it. that's all. cheers.
