Don't know there is the fans of megadeth here.. smile.gif

so let discuss anything about them..
anything about their stuff, style, band members, album, concert and others..

QUOTE
Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1983. Founded by guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson following Mustaine's departure from Metallica, the band has since released twelve studio albums, six live albums, two EPs, twenty six singles, thirty-two music videos, and three compilations.

As a pioneer of the American thrash metal movement, Megadeth rose to international fame in the 1980s and was ranked as one of the "Big Four of Thrash," along with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, who were responsible for creating, developing and popularizing the thrash metal sub-genre. Megadeth has experienced numerous line-up changes, due partly to the band's notorious substance abuse problems. From 1983 to 2002, Mustaine and Ellefson were the only continuous members of the band. After finding sobriety and securing a stable line-up, Megadeth went on to release a string of platinum and gold albums, including the platinum-selling landmark Rust in Peace in 1990 and the Grammy nominated, multi-platinum Countdown to Extinction in 1992. Megadeth disbanded in 2002 after Mustaine suffered a severe nerve injury to his left arm. However, following extensive physical therapy, Mustaine reformed the band in 2004 and released The System Has Failed, followed by United Abominations in 2007; the albums debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #18 and #8, respectively. Megadeth, along with their new lead guitarist Chris Broderick, released their twelfth studio album, titled Endgame, on September 15, 2009, which debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200.

In the band's 25 active years, Megadeth has had 20 official members, with Dave Mustaine remaining as the driving force and main songwriter.

Megadeth is known for its distinctive instrumental style, often featuring dense, intricate passages and trade off guitar solos. Mustaine is also known for his "snarling" vocal style, as well as his recurring lyrical themes including politics, war, addiction, personal relationships, and the occult.

Megadeth has sold close to 25 million albums worldwide,[1] with five consecutive albums being certified platinum in the USA. The band has also been nominated for seven consecutive nominations for Best Metal Performance.

i love all their stuff, but i need to admit that after critic writing, they sound not much good as before..

about the formation on the band,
just a few weeks before, they brought back the original bass guitar, Dave ellefson
maybe it because some business issues there, want to attract more fans before tour RIP..

you know, thats what Metal vocalist should sound. High pitch. Not like today screamo poser who shriek, growl, snooze, snort etc.. Furthermore his riffing and skill could kill any modern guitarist right now.

He probably wasted or drugged because that's the way he live his live in the late 80's and early 90's hence the vocal sound very off.

owh really sorry..
i been very busy lately,
not have enough time to reply here..

well, if u got warchest single cd set, maybe u all hear this :
"The ten years of bullshit is over between Metallica and Megadeth!"
haha..

well, here some info/trivia about album "so far,so good so what"
QUOTE
# This album is a series of albums in the drug addiction of Musaine and this is evident in these recordings. 'Snarl' of Mustaine showed he was so high during the recording process. Hear songs "Hook In Mouth".
# Songs "Set The World Afire" is the first song made by  Mustaine immediately after leaving Metallica. It is not included in the previous album as not suitable. This song also takes inspiration directly from the song The Trooper (Iron Maiden).
# Song "In My Darkest Hour" is the first song that Mustaine solved with a single sitting, from beginning to end! It is a tribute to Mustaine's friend ever, Cliff Burton (Metallica) is killed in an accident.
# To cover song lyrics Sex Pistols, Anarchy In The UK does not like the original. This is caused by Mustaine he heard one.
# Song "Liar" refers to the previous guitarist, Chris Poland (sessionist to return to the album The System Has Failed. the Lyrics is really condemn him ... hahaha!
# Jeff Young, guitarist,  is a hard rock guitarist who was forced back by Mustaine to match the image of heavy thrash Metal Megadeth. Mustaine Megadeth fans say that when the image is relatively thick metal and anti-"imposter". If you can watch the clip this time with Jeff Young, Jeff is fashionable on stage as guitarist and glam hardrock hahaha ... Or with other words, Jeff is a poser.

March 28, 2010 - DAVE MUSTAINE REVEALS NEW SONGTITLE: "SUDDEN DEATH"

Dave Mustaine was interviewed by Jose Mangin, program director for Sirius XM, on March 18, 2010 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. During the chat, Dave spoke about a recently recorded Megadeth song which will be used in an as-yet-undisclosed project later this year. "That was a top-secret track that we haven't been able to announce where it's getting directed to," he said. "It's a song called 'Sudden Death', and appropriately so. And it's a pretty long song — it's not our usual three-to-four-minute length; it's more along the lines of... I think it's about five minutes long."

at their latest show, i think mustaine vocal just got better compare at their young ade(golden era).
like someone said before, maybe that time, mustaine still got drunk&drugs habit very bad and it effect his vocal

one think that i figure out, mustaine always use guitar with flying V shape..
so far, never saw him use another guitar shape during performing live, etc on youtube..

that their trendmark ... notworthy.gif

Megadeth, 'The Right to Go Insane' -- Video Premiere

On May 17, 1995, a U.S. Army veteran and unemployed plumber in San Diego, Shawn Timothy Nelson, snapped and stole an M60 Patton tank from a nearby National Guard Armory. He drove down the highway, crushing cars, fire hydrants and an RV before he was stopped and killed by police.

The headline-grabbing story forms the basis of Megadeth's new video for 'The Right to Go Insane,' the second single from the band's acclaimed 2009 disc 'Endgame.' In the clip, which surprisingly features no performance footage, frontman Dave Mustaine is filmed sneaking onto a military facility, stealing a tank and playing crash-up derby through the streets. Video footage from the cockpit shows him singing and laughing, while shots from a surveillance helicopter depict a missile gunsight tracking him as he pillages.
"If I am going to carjack something, I'm going to do it Mustaine-style and go over the top like my new M-60 Abram's tank with a sunroof," Mustaine joked to Noisecreep. In addition to the action shots, there are numerous flashbacks of Mustaine's character fighting with his wife, being served divorce papers and finding a note on his front door notifying him his home was in foreclosure, the dramatized factors that led to his breakdown.

'The Right to Go Insane' was shot in South El Monte, California and directed by Bill Fishman, who also shot Megadeth's 'Head Crusher,' the Grammy-nominated first single from 'Endgame.'

"This video was a blast to film; Bill Fishman did a great job; even better in my honest opinion than our first video with him. But let me warn you, even though it looks like fun ... don't try this at home."

'The Right to Go Insane' is the first Megadeth video to feature bassist Dave Ellefson since 2000's 'Breadline.' In 2002, Ellefson left the band and only recently returned for the band's 'Rust in Peace' 20th anniversary tour.

Megadeth just finished up the U.S. 'Rust in Peace' dates and are about to head to South America, where they'll begin a world tour. Their first show is April 17 in Mexico City. Dates run through July 16 in Haapsalu, Estonia. The band's Canadian and American Carnage make-up dates with Testament and Slayer launch July 23 in Quebec City and run through Sept. 4 in Portland, Ore.

well some news about Megadeth and Slayer consert

QUOTE
SLAYER'S SEASONS IN THE ABYSS AND MEGADETH'S RUST IN PEACE TO BE CORNERSTONES OF "AMERICAN CARNAGE" LIVE SETS

"I'm feeling great and anxious to get back on the road."
-- Slayer's post-op Tom Araya

"If you missed us playing with our friends Slayer back in the 90s, well, here's your chance to make it up to yourself.  If you miss it this time, well then you ain't metal anyway!"
-- Megadeth's Dave Mustaine

"We've been sitting home for six months...I can't remember the last time
I wanted to tour so bad."
-- Slayer's Kerry King

LOS ANGELES, CA - Monday, April 26, 2010 -- Megadeth and Slayer, who last toured the U.S. together nineteen years ago on the  "Clash of the Titans" extravaganza, have confirmed that they will each perform, start to finish, their 1990 releases - Slayer's world-wide, million-selling Seasons In The Abyss and Megadeth's Platinum Rust In Peace - on the upcoming Canadian and American Carnage Tours.  The six-date Canadian Carnage kicks off July 23 in Quebec City, while the 19-city American Carnage dates begin August 11 in Glens Falls, NY (complete itinerary is below).  With Slayer and Megadeth co-headlining, Testament will be Special Guest on all dates.

Tickets purchased for the Canadian and American Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates.  Complete information regarding ticket sales can be found at www.slayer.net . www.megadeth.com . www.testamentlegiions.com

1990 was one stellar year for fans of intense heavy metal, as both Rust in Peace and Seasons in the Abyss are considered to be among the genre’s all-time classics. “War Ensemble,” “Holy Wars...The Punishment Due,” “Dead Skin Mask,” “Hangar 18,” “Seasons in the Abyss” - the preeminent list of metal standards that these two albums spawned has rarely been matched by others.  Click HERE to see the original music video (shot in Egypt) for Slayer's "Seasons in the Abyss," and HERE for "Holy Wars," Megadeth's first music video from Rust In Peace.

Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - scored a major breakthrough upon the original release of Seasons in the Abyss (Slayer’s fifth studio album overall), as it was the group’s first album to hit the US Top 40, and saw Slayer playing to the biggest crowds of their career with 91's "Clash of the Titans" tour.

Megadeth's fourth album, Rust In Peace saw the band cement their status as one of the most important metal bands with masterpieces like "Hanger 18" and "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due," as well as a top 25 debut on the Billboard charts.  The album has been hailed as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time with IGN recently naming it one of the most influential metal albums ever.  Megadeth is now rejoined by original bassist Dave Ellefson and are firing on all cylinders.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be postponed due to Slayer vocalist/bassist Tom Araya's treatment for severe back pain, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing.  A surgical procedure in January corrected the problem once and for all, and he felt better almost immediately.

"Right after the surgery, " said Araya, "I could tell that the issue was fixed.  There's no more pain, it just feels really good.  I'm really excited and I'm anxious to get together with the rest of the guys and start rehearsing again.  We cancelled two tours, and I don't feel great about that, but I couldn't deal with the pain anymore, and that's now completely gone.  I know the fans are excited to see the band - the tour is on, we're keeping our word, there will be no more cancellations."

SLAYER
Slayer. The Chicago Tribune's Greg Kot wrote that Slayer is "one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre." Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - bring to its live shows, having been named "Best Live Band" by numerous media outlets including Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer.  2009's World Painted Blood (American Recordings) offers a Slayer-ized point of view of our world - God's terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, and a chilling hypothesis of how the rest of the world might view America. The album was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. World Painted Blood was produced by Greg Fidelman who has spent time in the studio with Metallica, the Gossip, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, Slipknot and others, and executive produced by long-time Slayer colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project.  One reviewer called the album "the heaviest, bloodiest and best album in almost two decades."  World Painted Blood landed on boatloads of U.S. and International "Best of" lists for 2009, and N.A.R.A.S. saw fit to bestow its fourth Grammy nomination on Slayer - Best Metal Performance for the WPB track, "Hate Worldwide."  For "American Carnage," Slayer's Tom Araya promises, "no ballads, no acoustic numbers, no slow tempos."

MEGADETH
Megadeth. 2009 saw the release of ENDGAME, which has been heralded as Megadeth's best album in years. It's the record where it all comes full circle in a career that has not only set standards in hard rock and metal, but defined them. Megadeth's signature shredding and rousing lyrics are the hallmarks of ENDGAME, with vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine once again musing and making declarations about the world we live in, having named the album after a government document that should strike fear in the hearts of Americans! But that's Mustaine and Megadeth, using the vehicle of music to shake things up, to make a point and to rattle your brain, literally, figuratively and sonically. Revolver magazine said of ENDGAME, "One of their best albums." VH1's 'That Metal Show' deemed it "One of the metal albums of the year," and Popmatters said, "the record positively scorches with an intensity not heard since Rust in Peace." The band was also awarded the eighth Grammy nomination of its career for "Head Crusher," which serves as more proof that ENDGAME is quickly earning "essential" status in the Megadeth catalog. Megadeth has teamed with ILoveAllAccess.com to offer Ultimate Fan Packages. For more info, go to www.megadeth.com

TESTAMENT
Legendary thrash metal titans Testament, whose latest award-winning release (2008 Album of the Year, Metal Hammer's Golden God Award) The Formation of Damnation, displays them as the quintessential modern heavy metal band, whose experience and accumulated skill allows them to attack with reserves of anger, energy and finesse that make them more powerful than ever. Lead singer Chuck Billy says, "My first memories of playing with Slayer were in New York, they were our first shows even before we had a record out.  We got spit on for the first three songs and then the fans turned it around and started headbanging and fist pumping.  It was great and the shows were the heaviest and fondest memories of Testament touring with Slayer."
Added Alex Skolnick, "It's hard to believe that we actually toured together twenty years ago.  With everyone just a little bit older and wiser, I believe this time around will be even more fun.  It's great that these three bands, Slayer, Megadeth and Testament, are not only still going strong, but sounding better than ever.  I'm really looking forward to American Carnage as I'm sure all the fans are."

well, mustaine release his autobiography book
http://www.megadeth.com/books.php
QUOTE
From his early, crazy days as a founding member of Metallica, Dave Mustaine has seen and experienced everything in the world of rock n’ roll. From his young triumphs and ignominious ouster from the band for his hard-partying ways to his later rule over Megadeth, one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time, Mustaine tells it all. Outrageously candid and in-your-face, this is a classic rock memoir — an insider’s look at the loud and sordid world of heavy metal.

Dave Mustaine's long-awaited autobiography, "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir", was released on August 3 via HarperCollins's It Books imprint. The U.K. edition, "Mustaine: A Life In Metal", will hit bookstores in the U.K. on September 30.

saw marty friedman in town around year 2003 or was it 2004. not so much of a person to talk to about clinical playing (as compared to andy timmons when he was also in town) as few have questions him of his style of playing, somehow mostly he juz answered 'i just played!' at that time some were invited to jam with him on the stage. i remember one of them, a chinese boy, played 'kaw-kaw' where while jamming with marty he started tapping! marty was like bowing to him straight away! marty said he dont do tapping! that was funny smile.gif

btw, fav song, hangar 18 smile.gif

New album (2010–Present)
On November 17, 2010, Dave Mustaine has officially announced in the Megadeth Cyber Army Chat Room that Megadeth will soon be recording their 13th album in Vic's Garage (Megadeth's Studio). Dave Mustaine said these words about the new upcoming album; "So, right now I have Ken Eisennagel, you may remember him from the last two records doing engineering for all of the pre-production phases of Megadeth records? Well, he is here [Megadeth’s studio - Vic's Garage] going over all of the new Megadeth stuff that I am working on… believe it or not we have five songs almost finished for the new Megs record already!"[109] The album name and release date is still to be announced. On December 18, 2010, it was announced that Megadeth and Slayer will join forces once again for European Carnage Tour in March and April 2011.[110] Megadeth is also confirmed for fourth annual of Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in July and August 2011. On January 25, 2011, another Big 4 show was announced, this time in the USA. The gig will take place on April 23, 2011 in Indio, CA at the Empire Polo Club. This is the only scheduled stop in the USA for now, this will also be the first time all of the Big 4 members play on the same stage in the USA.[111] On January 31, Dave Mustaine posted the following on his Twitter: "In the studio today working on guitar parts! Love you all. DSM", suggesting that the recording process for the follow-up to Endgame has begun.[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megadeth

you know, thats what Metal vocalist should sound. High pitch. Not like today screamo poser who shriek, growl, snooze, snort etc.. Furthermore his riffing and skill could kill any modern guitarist right now.

To be honest, at the moment i don't like it. But Countdown to Extinction is never my favourite Deth album which has similar direction as TH1RT3EN. I think Public Enemy is catchier and Never Dead is much better than these 2 songs. Maybe those who love CTE will like this song.

Added on October 18, 2011, 10:57 pmTears in a Vial, one of the greatest lyric ever written by metal musician. Sure the song is slow and maybe sound lame to certain people but you can't deny the deep and metaphor in the lyric is genius.

Lyric:

The meaning of the song:
QUOTE
This is about Dave walking away from the music industry. Dave Mustaine said so himself.

“This was one of the first ones I wrote after I broke up Megadeth. For a man to walk away from a multi-million dollar franchise just because he is not happy- he’s got to be very unhappy. One of the lines is ‘Forced to look deep in the mirror and face who I really am/now it’s just me because I can’t afford you.’ that tells you some truths.”

And i couldn't believe this man used to did all the rocker 101 stuff with that mullet hairstyle back during his youth:

Just listen the album. Compared to the previous I think this album is way better than Endgame. If I could vote it maybe it would be 8.5.

The songs already known, that were leaked, are really amazing, mainly Sudden Death and Never Dead. Both songs are off the charts. Maybe the weakest of them all is Whose Life...Public Enemy No 1 is pretty good with a good solo and great performance by Dave Mustaine.
The rest of the album...Fast Lane is a pretty intense song, not very fast, but really strong and intense. New World Order is one of my least favourites of the album, it remindes me The System Has Failed or United Abominations..it´s ok but not Megadeth. Black Swan is an old song of Megadeth from the United Abominations cd, it was remastered and changed "here and there". Wrecker is really good song, very Megadeth reminds me from the Youthanasia album, fast song and lyrics are a real criticism for someone. We The People is a typical song from the United Abominations cd, it's a song about the present situation in America and around the world, it can function as slogan of incentive to the people (We the people is political slogan), technically the drums are the best of this song with Shawn Drover dominationg all the way, although the incentive is there, it is also a dark song. Millennium Blind as a great first 2:40 with a more dramatic pace, after that it continues with a fast pace, with drums playing a great part of the song...the solo is really ok and it fits in the drama of the song. 13 is the most emotionally driven song, mainly Dave Mustaine, it may function as a reminder that Megadeth are here to stay and will go on with greart power, i find really great material in 13 song, way better than The hardest part... of the last album, that was the most dramatic of Endgame. Deadly Nightshade is a heavy song with heavy riff and good solo... it's one of the most agressive songs of "13" in all aspects vocally, in guitar, bass and drums. Guns Drugs & Money don't have a lot to say it's seems to be a filler song. It seems that Dave and the others saw they have time to fill and made this song...it's a good song but not in the pack of the best songs of the album...it's a more generic song that doesn't mean anything in particular, is fast, heavy ... but lacks in feeling.

Best Songs: Never Dead, Sudden Death, 13, Wrecker, Public Enemy No1
Ok Songs: "Drugs, Guns, And Money", Millennium Of The Blind, Whose Life..., We The People, Fast Lane and Deadly Nightshade
Songs i didn't like: Black Swan (irritates me), New World Order.

Vote: 8,5
I think it has better songs and less generic songs than Endgame. This album is much more heavier with greater songs. Never Dead, Sudden Death, Public Enemy No 1 and 13 are really amazing maybe a pack of songs that is one of the best made by Megadeth in this decade. This 4 songs played live must be amazing and have to be present in future setlists (they seem to sound amazing live)

Hope Mustaine will be more open for the new album. Shawn has been there for 8 years while Broderick been there for 4 years but they never had any credible input for the past albums. Their newer stuff suffers from this as it doesn't have much diversity. You could tell it had Mustaine footprint all over it. Sometime it left you wanting more as Megadeth are super talented heavy metal band, one of very few last bastion since the 80's.

why megadeth (dave mustaine) doesn't give credit to some songs, like Tornado of souls, such as for Marty Friedman's solo on that song?

I don't know. Usually he already lay all the riff, song structure and lyric. He even laid some of the drum track on certain songs. Maybe it take more than that to be credited in Megadeth.

That's his attempt to make the album more catchy. Dave always do that when he asked someone outside of the band co-write the songs. I don't think it's the record label decision. Megadeth pretty much have 100% control over their direction since 2 decades ago.

Megadeth Announce UK Dates And New Album ‘Super Collider’! We Made A Playlist

Megadeth have announced new album Super Collider and a clutch of UK summer dates! Super Collider will be released this June via Dave Mustaine‘s new label, Tradecraft.

“It was a real thrill for us to learn there was an opportunity to join Universal,” said Mustaine during a break in the sessions. “It seems like every time you see a great band or music video, it comes from a Universal label. Being with Universal is by far the most exciting and prestigious home for Megadeth ever! We are electrified with what the future holds and the possibilities such a powerhouse like Universal will bring for us all. We have worked with some great people over the years, and it is amazing to see so many of them on the Universal team for our new record, Super Collider. If Megadeth being here isn’t satiating enough, having Tradecraft as my own label is going to be really amazing for metal bands around the world.”

Better, HD quality. Now everybody can judge the song fairly. For me it's an okay song, just ordinary. I liked Guns Drugs and Money even more as radio-friendly tune.

Broderick is too good for Megadeth anyway, his talent was wasted there. Megadeth are a great band, but Broderick is that kind of guitarist who needs to have fellow bandmates accommodating him, because he's that good. Not there other way around.

About Shawn, he did his job well. Very strict to the original arrangement, which I suspect had to do with Dave Mustaine. Glad he finally decided to pursue his own interest because just like Chris, he is a great musician and composer.

BTW, in my opinion,

Tornado Of Souls and Lucretia are my all time favourite guitar solo riff and part. So wick and wonder how Marty can create that 'haunted' guitar solo part especially for Tornado. =)

Holy Wars - the intro riff and drum part will make u feel like want to headbang lah each time listen to that. Haha.
