Is there a way to unofficial upgrade (bypass apple's server) i want to upgrade my iphone 3g to 3.1.3 only.
*
download 'RecBoot'

install 'lilusb...' (included in the RecBoot folder)

restart pc

open the 'hosts' file with notepad

CODE
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

add the following entry to the bottom of the file

CODE
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

put ur phone into DFU mode, use offline update (Shift + Restore)

after updated, there'll be error message, ignore it

shut down itunes

turn on recboot

choose exit DFU/recovery mode

restart itunes, done

Does this work on 3g? i'm not downgrading but upgrading to 3.1.3 on 3g.
*
yes it does work

if u opt to upgrade online

itunes will upgrade straight to iOS 4

u cant choose to upgrade to 3.1.3

apple wont sign any prior 4.0 firmware anymore

QUOTE(yezhacolic @ Jun 26 2010, 04:42 PM)
No need so troublesome.
1st download 3.1.3 ipsw from pinned tread.
2nd Put your iPhone into DFU mode (please search how to perform dfu).
3rd press shift and restore on itunes. Choose 3.1.3 ipsw you downloaded earlier.
4th Vola
You can press right click on your "iPhone name" on the left and choose "backup iPhone" before performing restore.
Your iPhone cannot restore? No error or whatsoever?
*
have u tried upgrade/downgrade lately?

can u manage to upgrade/downgrade other than iOS 4?

well u cant even u put it into DFU mode

even on offline firmware

try it to believe it

as i mentioned, apple stop signing firmware prior to iOS 4

cant discuss jailbreak thinggy in lowyat.net.. Not because the jailbreak itself, but because people tend to talk about piracy and it's prohibited in lowyat.net
*
yup, noticed that

i'm hoping we could discuss it towards positive way

legally that is, without those piracy talk

how to jb, steps to jb & such.. since its aldy legal for iphone owners to jb their phone

if ppl talk bout piracy, report them

anyway, its just an idea

It's hard to be positive and have a healthy discussion on jailbreak. We malaysians are so use to piracy and it will never change. Even with the Jailbreak thread closed, we still get forumers posting on piracy and totally disregard LYN RULES and the subforum rules. When IOS4 came out, we have forumers posting on piracy on a daily basis without fail and mods have to keep closing them and forumers keep reporting them hence, we are suspending all Jailbreak topics/post related to it.

Even tho jailbreak is legal, forumers can jailbreak with the guide provided in the Jailbreak thread. Just, no discussion allowed.

I have gotten heaps of reports and recorded hundreds of users using piracy and i have a whole list of them.

The person who posted on piracy above these few post just got 3 days of suspension. Next will be 7-14 days and i will request it till they get ban for good.

trust me, mate.

i have been in this subforum longer than most of the peeps here.

and i can concur that jailbreaking discussions will eventually (give or take) lead to piracy.

we can all deny all we want, and argue that jailbreaking is for the greater good of customisation and localisation of the iPhones, but facts are facts.

i have lost track on how many posts/threads that i have reported with regard to piracy in this subforum alone.
*
point taken

have to agree on the piracy posting, still got forumers posting on piracy doh.gif

just wish it could be the other way round

hope u guys will update the jailbreak thread once the new jailbreak available for iOS4 icon_rolleyes.gif

hi..im on jb 3.1.3... how unjb back my unit...btw im on 3g maxis set n itunes 9.1
*
if u planing to upgrade to iOS 4 (which is highly not recommended coz its gonna be slow on iPhone 3G)

download the offline installer for iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1

restore it offline (have to put ur phone into DFU Mode)

if u planning just to unjb ur 3.1.3 firmware

just go to Settings > General > Reset Settings > Erase All Data & Contents

yup, it will erase all your contents including contacts and sms

u can backup ur phone first

later after reset, restore ur backup wink.gif

no need to upgrade ur itunes to 9.2 (unless u planning to upgrade to iOS 4)

I know he did JB. JB doesnt mean he got the shsh saved. Unless he press "make your life easier".

@ zwanvedder
For now you try this method i elaborate below.
1) Download the ipsw file for firmware 3.1.3
2) put your phone in DFU mode.
3) Shift restore and select the ipsw file
4) Will then auto restore
5) Sit still and see result

If there is any error encounter after step 3) then you have no luck. You have to upgrade to 4.0 or 4.01 after that.

Btw, did you save shsh via cydia before?
*
oo yeah, forgot bout that, sorry mate

@ zwanvedder

b4 reset ur iphone

open cydia, save ur shsh by clicking the "make your life easier" option

after that follow what yezhacolic said, in addition download the recboot

theres a newer software instead of recboot, cant remember what the name is, but it solve the win7 64-bit libusb problem

Added on July 31, 2010, 3:55 pmah found it, recovboot 1.0

google it, it solve the libusb problem in win7 64-bit version
