Do you all think that Apple actually allows his carrier to simply charge the price of their phone?
It might ruin Apple's sale in Malaysia if they allowed that. So I do think Apple have control over the price of their iPhone under both Maxis and Digi.

I do think that Apple does set certain regulations on the price for the iPhone. Even in Singapore the prices of iPhone isn't that much different between all 3 carriers. I don't see why that might be different here as well.

So I do think Apple have control over the price of their iPhone under both Maxis and Digi. apple have the price control...is not like nokia or sony..where the price will drop in a month or two..but iphone prices are like tag..till new once come the price is fixed...in onlt the telco earns is by the plan and contract...i think digi wont come with a big hype..maybe somewhere similar to maxis...

It will be a battle of packages and services.
I am kinda curious how well both Digi and Maxis fare in term of 3G coverage. It would be troublesome when the 3G coverage not wide enough.
Well do hope the price war will benefits us.
Guys do post if there are any updates on Digi package.
Currently using Maxis 3GS RM100. 500MB is definitely not enough for me. Might as well JUMP if Maxis doesn't know how to keep it's customer happy.

The phone price will be the same as it is being determined by Apple however the package/contract is up to the telco. The only place where they can fight would be package pricing, customer service, coverage, reliability etc.. see how it goes with DiGi, hope they can rollout 3G coverage in more places so the battlefield is much more leverage

Even if controlled by Apple, telco itself still can absorb the cost like AT&T doing now. They sell only for 2-300 bucks cheap, but their package is far expensive, to cover the cost. All depends on telco. Let's wait and see

It depends on the whole package. If its attractive enough to get customer onboard. On Apple side the price will be the same so its up to the telco to play the game. Well for me I got 3gs 32 so maybe if DiGi is good enough then I will jump onboard for the next iPhone release. My assumption is that DiGi will be stronger player in next 1 year when most of contract customer from Maxis have expired. Alot of iPhone freak got their dose on Maxis but I bet they are eager to see what DiGi can offer so they know where to jump when the time is right. Knowing DiGi they normally can do better in term of offering only lacking in rollout (well they started late anyway but closing fast) but given time they will be the next powerhouse in Malaysian telco. My only hope is that all contract should cover roaming and local. It's a waste not to be able to utilize all those so called free called when always roamed. Just do the normal roaming rate and deduct from the amount of RM available in the contract would suffice as at least it's utilized. Or some kind of bundle between call and data accumulated in RM and if it's not used locally then it can be deducted from all those roaming charges. See how DiGi play the game..I have both but my primary line is still with Maxis.

If it's true Apple is rolling out new iphones, then the 3gs version would have to be cleared out. digi will come up with cheaper 3gs and cheaper plans!
is that possible?

We never know with Apple. Some say they might release, others think they will support their ipad release more this year. We the consumers can only wait and see.

yeap~maxis have started the 1st move. Even they can't wait for Digi package. Perhaps they knew their package will be more expensive than Digi hence they comes up with this 1st move~To conquer at least some customers first!!
RM200 discount from Maxis makes no difference. The plan still sucks tho~Their marketing team really needs to think out of the box to attract customers or they'll definitely lose to Digi once the package is announced.
Even the BB offer from Digi is good compare to both maxis and celcom.
I presume Digi may announce the package in coming weeks & the roadshow should be Fri - Sun. Just like how they did it for BB in MidValley.
A limited time to show that DIGI is exclusive =) Just my 2cents
