Hello all smile.gif
Well, today I got my admission from Nottingham Malaysian campus for February term smile.gif (In BSc of electronics and computer engineering)
Since it's the first time I'm going to a foreign country,I've got few questions
1_I've heard that since the bachelor degree is 3 years old(compared to almost all universities in Malaysia which are 4 year)you can't apply for jobs when you finished your study,is that right ?
The same question is for the Master program, can i apply for other universities in Malaysia when i finish my bachelor studies? Or I have to study some courses before doing it ?

2_It may be funny but I know nothing about Malay language(I'm Persian),is it easy to communicate with other students in English or I have to learn Malay language ?

3_Are you guys overall satisfied with the university ?

Sorry for the long question, but I've to know more about there before making my final decision.
Thanks smile.gif

As for the job,I was talking about Malaysia.Because surprisingly Iran doesn't accept the grade given from Nottingham MY.

Hi Maziar,

Regarding the jobbing opportunities between a 3 years and 4 years, I think your referral (who let you know about Nottingham Malaysia, your friends or agents?) might have some clues about it. Or he/she won't be in a position to recommend us to you in the first instance, isn't it?
Anyway, for EE or its related, just for your information, the Intel plant in Malaysia doesn't really care about you being 3 or 4 years.
To be honest, the thing you might worry more could be the jobbing opportunities due to your nationality (there are bound to have companies that prefer locals over internationals), and perhaps your language (incompetence in Malay).

Hey,thanks for the reply smile.gif
Well,I actually have no referees,I was searching for Private English universities in Malaysia and I found Nottingham.
I read in few Persian forums that jobs are limited for international students and almost all companies prefer local students than internationals(just like you mentioned)

Thus, I don't think it is wise for you to plan out a career in Malaysia as it would seem unlikely at the moment. You can still prefer yourself working in Malaysia though, but do have a backup plan if you fail to secure a job here.

OK,thanks for the tip smile.gif

Guys,
First of all I'm sorry if this question has been asked before.
I was planing to go to Nottingham UK campus but due to financial limitations,I can only go to the Malaysia campus.(for bachelor studies)
I wanted to know that do i receive the *exact* same degree from the Malaysian campus as if I were studying at UK ?
If so,then may I ask why the Malaysian campus cost less ?

So is it the same?

I've read the first page and learned that accreditation isn't that important in Malaysia but is the Masters of Engineering in Nottingham recognized by the engineering boards of Malaysia?

Also, for those that are studying there, how did you guys settled the financial need to study there? (I'm assuming you guys aren't filthy rich)

How much is it to live there every month? Inclusive of accomodation, food, entertainment etc.

Here as a reply I got from the UK campus
"Dear Maziar,

Thank you for your email.

I was really pleased to hear you are interested in studying at our Malaysia campus.

The Malaysia campus offers exactly the same course, tuition and final award as the UK campus - the only difference is that the course is completed in Malaysia.

Students spend the duration of their studies at the Malaysia campus, but, subject to them achieving high enough grades (usually a cumulative average of 60%), students may have the opportunity to spend a 'study abroad' semester at our campus in the UK.

I hope this explains.
Best wishes
Harriet"
