Lol I take the rankings with a pinch of salt. Rankings alone can't tell how good the university is compared to others, though it does provide some light in certain aspects.

in malaysia, the rankings don't really matter.
people are more concerned about the price, environment, and where their friends are going to study.

QUOTE(eXPeri3nc3 @ Jul 31 2010, 12:57 PM) At least I don't. me too. going monash all alone.

I would actually wish none of my friends went to the same uni. Actually forces you to socialise, which is another important skill to sharpen. Did that in F6, ended up wit another bunch of great friends.
For the record, in terms of 'ranking' Monash has always outscored Nottingham. Even the score for each segment also outscore. But, unless they hold an Olympiad pitching students from every university against each other in some empirical test, or else there isn't a real way to telling which is better than which.

^huh? which part? Might wanna clarify that boss...
EDIT: you mean the 'best university' part? LOL 'best' is a very subjective adjective ma.... Can't say who's wrong or right ma... I might say the Nissan GTR is the best car, but you might say the Ferrari F430.

Hey zstan makes me feel like I should have chose Monash over Notts back then. lol
But not really. I'd prefer the UK system over the Australian. Australian for me would take longer in terms of accomplishment.
And hey, Notts is one of UK's top 15 universities, and some of its programmes are among the best in the country (based on rankings), e.g. the Mechanical Engineering is 2nd place in UK.
With the top 15 universities, and compared to the top 8 universities, it really doesn't matter much. If we were to compare every single thing, I'd even say holders of UK degrees will possess more recognition in the international corporate arena if compared to an Australian degree. But it doesn't really matter very much when the universities are among the popular ones in the country, you can say it's on par, and what you've just gotta do is obtain at least a distinction/second class upper. You can say there's a difference if you take ANU and compare it with Notts though, if the course years being equal, I'd go for ANU. Sometimes it's the prestige that matters.

Here, nottingham is ranked at 83 while monash is at 201-302.
