So is it the same?

I've read the first page and learned that accreditation isn't that important in Malaysia but is the Masters of Engineering in Nottingham recognized by the engineering boards of Malaysia?

Also, for those that are studying there, how did you guys settled the financial need to study there? (I'm assuming you guys aren't filthy rich)

How much is it to live there every month? Inclusive of accomodation, food, entertainment etc.

Here as a reply I got from the UK campus
"Dear Maziar,

Thank you for your email.

I was really pleased to hear you are interested in studying at our Malaysia campus.

The Malaysia campus offers exactly the same course, tuition and final award as the UK campus - the only difference is that the course is completed in Malaysia.

Students spend the duration of their studies at the Malaysia campus, but, subject to them achieving high enough grades (usually a cumulative average of 60%), students may have the opportunity to spend a 'study abroad' semester at our campus in the UK.

I hope this explains.
Best wishes
Harriet"

Hello everyone !

I'm very new here but I thought I'll join in. I read the questions crane posted and I have a few more I would like to add. I'm currently doing CAL at Taylor's College and I thought I'll do Civil Engineering at Nottingham.

1. What are the ratio of local to foreigner students ?
2. How are the lesson conducted? A huge lecture and then smaller tutorial class? Or more like how we are all used to in secondary school? If so, how big are the classes/tutorials?
3. Are the lecturers keen to stay back with you and help you with your problems/questions?
4. Why did you guys chose Nottingham ?
5. This is to the students doing Civil Engineering, what exactly do you guys learn? Is it more towards maths or physics? Maybe with more specific details? Because I'm not sure if this is the right course for me yet.

Thank you in advance guys.

^your questions need to be directed to the carrier guidance department. We as students don't have access to the answers without going for consultation.

1. What are the ratio of local to foreigner students ?
I would put it at 80-20 with 80 as local.

2. How are the lesson conducted? A huge lecture and then smaller tutorial class? Or more like how we are all used to in secondary school? If so, how big are the classes/tutorials?
Lectures are quite big during foundation and first year courses, but as more elective options open they get to a nice size. Tutorial classes are essentially the same as lectures.

3. Are the lecturers keen to stay back with you and help you with your problems/questions?
Lecturers for the most part are more than happy to answer to problems during lecture breaks. You can also make an appointment with a lecturer for further questions.

4. Why did you guys chose Nottingham ?
Decent University I would say. Also the option to switch over to Nott UK was nice.

5. This is to the students doing Civil Engineering, what exactly do you guys learn? Is it more towards maths or physics? Maybe with more specific details? Because I'm not sure if this is the right course for me yet.
How difficult is it to graduate with 1st class honors in Nottingham?
N/A I took Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

How difficult is it to graduate with 1st class honors in Nottingham?
Usually an average of 70% and above is the requirement. The exact detail is not too clear though. An average of 70 and above is achievable.

Where and what do Nottingham engineering grads usually work as?
A wide range of companies I would assume. I currently work at Motorola.

What is the rough estimate of engineering freshgrad pays?
Depends on your luck I guess XD

Is the Nottingham in Malaysia ranked the same as the UK one?
Not too sure about this one.

IELTS 7 Overall is not so high as it appears as it is an English university.
However, I would say a minimum of 7 in each band can be quite challenging for some students.

Hmm..
Have you ever heard of "It takes three generations to make a gentleman."?
It might be expensive but just don't simply say something and compare like that..
Just because this is Malaysia then can't be expensive?
What about IMU?
Thrice the price of this but so what?
Still many people enrolling..

^don't be surprised that a big population of the students here are on a scholarship.

And the wealthy ones are usually international students.

I cant understand for people who thought studying in UNMC must be rich.

Well then, study hard and get scholarship. Some of the scholarship comes with monthly allowance. I did not use my parents a single cent on tuition fees and monthly allowance for meal and textbook expenses.

So, stop "salute" and "jelly" bout other people and start picking up ur damn book and start studying.
