harrrrr.... Means my batch is the first batch that does a materials module in Year 1 ah? So scary meh... Lecturer say we'll do case studies in the test. Sei la there's so many things to consider about materials selection...
*
Nope. There are always Materials module in Year 1 (also Year long), and you are the 2nd batch (you are in Year 1 right?) to follow the new course structure which has 4 bloody year-long modules. (I had 2, DM1 and MMF only)

I think what Dr Lim meant about case study is.. simply case study. You are given a situation where materials fail in the application. You need to diagnose the reasons of the materials failing. You may be asked on choosing a material for a certain application and you have to justify your reasoning for choosing that.

Added on February 15, 2011, 11:40 pmCheck out some of the newer past year papers. Check their question 1, usually it's a 'case study' type.

Questionss Questionsss!
(About the appication forms)

First, Application form for foundation programme. Do I have to fill up the "Reference No" at the first page?

Second, Accommodation application form. What should I fill in the "Student Application No" ?

LOL, Nottingham application form is so complicated. >.<"
I don't really know how to fill up the "Qualification completed" and the "Qualification pending" too!

Hope to get a sample of filled-up-application-form =P But i think it's impossible to get it.

Hey everyone,

Just to keep you informed; Beware of giving rides to strangers from the surrounding area claiming to be students of Nottingham uni e.g. Semenyih, Kajang. They might be students from other colleges/unis claiming to be from this uni.

Always check their student ID first.

hi, I'm thinking of enrolling into Nottingham. and I'm wondering whats the difference between taking
BA (Hons) in International Communications Studies with English Language and Literature which is in School of Modern and Languages,
and taking BA (Hons) International Relations with Japanese/French in School of Politics, History and International Relations?
Confuse now....
Do I still get to learn other languages(more than 1) in the International Communications Studies with English Language and Literature?

Added on February 20, 2011, 1:42 pmOh, and which program I have to take before entering into one of these courses? Is it Arts Foundation Programme?

I think life here is getting better. I just registered myself at the Disability Student Services department.

They are giving me so much support not paralleled probably by any other institution I've been to. And I found out there were alot of similar people experiencing problems like me too (albeit much severe).

I get to stay on campus for all three years and decide on accommodation type.

My counselor threw a small fit at some of the staff because I wasn't phoned or mail despite having stated in the application form that I had a learning disability ( and some other issues I will not reveal).

I have to meet the counselor at least once a week as she needs to check if I have been taking my pills and how things have been going along for me. She even referred me to a regular psychiatrist that most of her students see which is alot, alot cheaper ( I cannot emphasize this enough). Cost has been a major factor in why I have not been regularly following up or taking medication, so I really can't be thankful enough.

To all students and prospect students who share similar circumstances with me, I strongly advise you DO REGISTER there because they dispense infallible support. For people like us, there is nothing to be frightened about the usual stigma affiliated with mental health issues such as learning disabilities or mental disorders because very, very few of them equates to being psychotic. Students like us get certain assistance that will prove invaluable in terms of academic performance.

I feel very happy today biggrin.gif

Sorry for repeating the question again but i'm really worried. I sent my application for the Engineering Foundation Course for April with my forecast results in November. I sent my actual GCE O'level results as soon as i got them early February. I haven't received anything from them, not even the the conditional offer. I am Malaysian, not an International Student. What is taking them so long? I live in Miri so i need to book tickets early and look for accomodation. Anyone else has/hasn't received their letter for Foundation for April intake? Anybody know the reason why are they taking so long? So worried.
