You start off with the MEng program regardless of which you applied. The offer will say BEng/MEng.
You actually need to qualify for the MEng program based on your 2nd year result. If cannot qualify then you will be streamed into the BEng program.
Difference is the path to getting Ir status.

Yeah you can use it to apply to Masters programmes. As a qualification to become a PEng, the 3 year BEng is not enough but as an academic qualification it's recognized enough.
