Not too long I believe. Our club is not very big and is still growing, so stuff is all kept simple, the AGM is more like a formality for club records. Please come, and get your friends to come as well.

Updates regarding "Pay RM 1000 for your offer letter" matter.

I've sent an email to Enquiry yesterday, the mail got forwarded to Admission and a lady called Vian Cheh Thian Teh (googled her up and found out that she's the Executive (Research & Funding) under "CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION - External Relations Office"

Vian Cheh Thian Teh

The reply Admission gave me was...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Okay, seems like it's new policy this year and they have not updated that in their website yet (or are they ever going to do so?)  hmm.gif

The short reply was a bit cold blooded don't you think? cry.gif

Still don't know whether to pay up or not coz I applied for Star Education Fund under the same course and same Uni as well.

Btw, spread this out to any Nottinghamians to-be that you might know so that they are prepared for that "pay RM1000 for your offer letter" matter.
*
I believe this is done to fend off those that apply for syok and don't want to come. The admission team is processing a lot of applications and imagine what they process, only half (just wild guess) become their students.

At least they don't charge any application fees unlike some other institutions in competition.

You know I have these weird study dreams, where I actually go to sleep after studying a bit, dream of waking up, studying, finishing my work etc, and then to wake up to realize it never happened. Super fucuked up

Added on March 18, 2011, 4:23 amWhat are seminars o-o
*
LOL, luckily it wasn't after you woke up, you found that you actually remembered what you have studied IN the dream. That would be scary.

Is there any on-campus hall that is 'better' than others for whatever reason?  Where are the Tasik halls?  How big are the single rooms on campus?
*
Air-con, non-shared/shared attached bathroom for the 'better' one if that's what you mean. Newer? Closer to sports complex/academic blocks?

Tasik halls are the off-campus accommodation, just that they rename it to sound nicer I think. If you are coming in as new student, please enjoy your on-campus - more convenient and you would by then know the off-campus stuff better when you start to look for it for your 2nd year.

Can't give you an exact dimension for the single rooms, but it's not cramped up for me in my shared attached bathroom which also houses a wardrobe, a bed, a desk and sort of a side table (those that are by your bed side) and also a mini cabinet (like the height of the desk). Of course, you get a chair, too, and you get another one-seater sofa (those uncomfortable la..).
That's one of the unit in the Redang hall.

No, I mean is there any hall which is more 'cool' or 'happening'?  Are the single ensuite rooms the same in all the halls?  Which is the newest hall?  How far in advance should I apply?

Added on March 18, 2011, 7:36 pm

Why not?
*
To me, they are all the same, not very happening and really serves more like a place to sleep over instead of a place to socialise. That's what I feel though.
The newer halls are Pangkor and Kapas, managed by Perintis and they are further away from the academic blocks. Langkawi, Redang and Tioman are managed by Pioneer. P and K has the same layouts (4 floors) and the rooms they have are probably the same. Similar things go for LRT as well. So, if there are X number of the air-con non-shared bathroom in L, you find that in the same floor same wing as well for R and T. Only difference is that Tioman has the management office, Langkawi the maintenance office and a mysterious room (I think it's the office of someone actually) in Redang.

I believe the bloody management will not process your application smoothly and keep you informed unless you bug them very badly. So, whenever you feel to apply, be sure to bug them, kacau them, so that they really process it for you.

Thanks for the tips, TJJ!  Can you request for a specific hall in your application?  I notice there's no column for that in the application form.  I'm interested in the single rooms with attached bathrooms (non-sharing).
*
Like they would care about you requesting a specific hall. LOL..
You can try though. I believe there's a place where you write down the remark, anything you want them to know. Whether they process that for you, it's their stuff.

Yup!! My Desire is still unrooted till now. Don't dare to mess around -yet-
I think it would be more fun if it's not just focused on Android, say like it's a club for mobile platform. More people can join then.
*

LOL.. iPhone will never befriend Android, better still two clubs, at least can fight.

Rooting in Desire is seriously easy, flashing custom ROM is a bit different though.
Follow the unrevoked method and you'll get superuser permission very easily. Be glad we have the painless method, the newer Z and HD are harder to root.

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Mar 20 2011, 05:24 PM)
Android club would be awesome considering the amount of iPhones and Blackberries out there. No joke the first thing I notice when I step foot into the campus is the prevalence of iPhones (esp the 4) and blackberries and the 5800 XM.

Groin gets a tingling sensation whenever I see the odd SGS and Desire. LOL.

But what does an Android Club do though? Later got iPhone club and BB club. haha
*
Well, as I suggest earlier, apps sharing and helping out in rooting would be great!
And maybe we can get some of them from the Computer Science course where we may even be able to develop a custom ROM out from Nottingham.
Have talks on how great Android can be.
Possibly, we may collaborate with some phone sellers on special sales of Android phones.

I am not sure about your Z and HD, but for Desire, it's quite simple even for FroYo. Not sure about other brands though.
BTW, Dr Albert uses Aria and Dr Yousif has a Desire HD.

Oh? I thought I saw Dr Albert using a big screen phone. He changed recently ah? Aria so cheapskate ah hahaha. I know Dr Yousif using a DHD. Saw the green fella appearing when he picked up a call. You think they're really android fanboys or just buying coz it's a good phone to use?

I dunno but I dun feel safe with the one-clicks out there. At least I can trace back the paths in case I need to unroot with the adb method.

LOL @ talk about androids.
*
I am not sure about the big screen phone you talk about. In one of his emails to me (or to everyone?), I saw the "sent using my HTC" signature, and heard Dr Yap saying Dr Albert has an Aria. Dr Yap (who owns a 3GS btw) might be wrong though. Dr Ng is using iPhone 4.
Seriously wonder if they will go through rooting/jailbreaking.

Indeed, one-click is a bit more "black box", you don't know what's going on. But unrevoked is very safe and is recommended for rooting procedure for Desire now, not sure if it works for branded one though.
LOL, did you just say ADB? I have never touched that yet, and doubt if I need to. I am one step away from getting full control (S-OFF) and even that, no need to go through ADB as well.
Pros of older phone eh? LOL...

LOL, I do not have problem on that, in Stock FroYo, custom FroYo, FroYo HD and now AOSP Gingerbread.
Market works just fine, didn't use Talk though.

However, all these ROMs, I sometimes have difficulties in connecting to the "unmc" even though the signal is strong. Didn't have such problem with my previous Nokia, weird!

I have this Engineering mathematics book with me, and i just wanna know which topics should i start learning. I have a few weeks left before i move to campus so anyone care to give me a hand. I just need to know specific topics. thank you. smile.gif

Hmm, maybe a bit more vectors would be really really helpful throughout your degree. More calculus is good as well. Complex number?

The best person to ask is the Admission Office. Navigate within our website to get the email address and strike them with your case. They should be glad to look it up for you. Be aware that SPM is just released and there will be a lot of emails that are similar to yours so process can be slow. Just be patient.

1. Well, the big men here are from the UK, generally taking up administrative roles and do conduct a few high level lectures. That's what happening in my department of Mechanical.

2. It depends. If you are firm that you want that course and you want to do it in Nottingham, then you can go for the foundation, which is a smoother and easier path. If you have even a slightest doubt about your choice of course of studies and place of studies, do A-Level instead. BTW, do visit the campus first before deciding. It's rather shocking to most people I believe.

why shocking to most people? can you explain it?
*
Well, I guess I meant... too tranquil? Or too remote? LOL..
Can't recall well on what I said more than a year ago la.. furthermore my point of view could have changed also!

That is for Masters of Pharmacy. The friend of mine is going for a degree O.o http://www.nottingham.edu.my/Faculties/Sci.../Pages/BSc.aspx
*
That is not a Pharmacy course, but more to a Health Sciences course with more concentration of pharmacy related stuff.
That being said, upon graduation, one cannot practise as a Pharmacist.
If one insists on becoming a pharmacist via Nottingham route, he/she must take and graduate with the MPharm with is currently offered strictly in the form of a 2+2 twinning only.

hi all,

i hv a house for rent. do you mind to share with me the golden time when most students will look for houses?  besides, where is the best place to put up some advertisements?

my house is taman seri impian located nearby the police station, i.e. going further down from Jln Broga toward the Chinese Templer and make left-turn when u see the signboard "Taman Seri Impian" b4 the police station.

i know the house is not in ideal location if compared to Taman Tasik Semenyih. however i am willing offer you with lower rental.

really appreciated if someone can enlighten me what are expected from the nottingham students.

thank you very much in adv.
*
I guess information like internet availability, heater, air-con, furniture, i.e. facilities would be helpful to sell your stuff. Been there once, looks new but too far.

thanks to tan & manthew.

actually when i bought the house, the agent promised me many things like guard, shuttle bus, etc but all are missed. and now they are in contact with the Nottingham registrar to make the taman as one of the hostels.

i am tired with this and will leave it to house agent.
*
I am sure it's not too difficult to hunt down students with cars and are willing to travel from Broga to the Uni. Compared to Sunway Semenyih or Pelangi, Impian is considered nearer already (and avoid the hassles of traffic). What you need is a nicely done publicity and people will start to look at it more seriously.
Perhaps you would want to ask opinions from students living there and ask them to recommend your unit to their friends shall their friends are interested?

Added on April 1, 2011, 1:58 pmThe things I observe here is that, if you are a good landlord, chances are they will renew the contracts with you after a year, or they will introduce their friends to take over their spots if they were graduating. At least, that's what I have observed in TTS.
