Been fine-tuning my theme a bit, since it's supposed to be a community theme for an upcoming distribution. Also been dirty-hacking the compositor to get drop-shadows just how I like them.
![]() Currently trying to decide on a simple, minimal layout for my Conky (the system monitor on the left), but I'm not a fan of rings or graphs that take up too much screen space. Any suggestions? |

I'd suggest that you tone down on the drop shadows for your fonts, and I've long since forgone the need to gawk at how my RAM or DL speeds perform Currently trying to decide on a simple, minimal layout for my Conky (the system monitor on the left), but I'm not a fan of rings or graphs that take up too much screen space. QUOTE(c2p @ Mar 25 2010, 12:39 PM) I'd suggest that you tone down on the drop shadows for your fonts, and I've long since forgone the need to gawk at how my RAM or DL speeds perform The Linux theming/modding community on DA is a bit of a mess. Unlike Windows or OSX, Linux has a LOT of desktop environments and window managers to chose from (which I'm sure you know), hence everyone's opinion on aesthetics is already skewed from prolonged use of their specific DE/WM. You'll get people telling you to make OpenBox look like Gnome, Gnome to look like KDE, KDE to look like Win7 (crazy, but it's true), Xmonad to look like Ratpoison.... etc.You should go on DA, might be more helpful and you'll get better feedback if you ask nicely. Do you mean the drop shadows on the system monitor part?... Ah, those are easy since they have their own "shade" settings and don't depend on system-wide compositing. ![]() I guess I'll just go design some new wallpapers instead and keep the current layout. Thanks. This post has been edited by G-17: Mar 25 2010, 06:23 PM |
