will check when I get back from work tonight. For safety sake I won't dare to open my precious trupies (the sync activity will only trigger when you open your trupies).

Guess I'll play with myself tonight. GOW2 still needs finishing anyway. I was planning to have a Bad Company session to celebrate last day before Bad Company 2 comes.

Ah well.

Ada Info but... tak paham...hahahahaha biggrin.gif  give back my ps3 cry.gif

The layman fix is to wait until tomorrow at midnight GMT (around 4PM PDT).

To put it simply, your PS3 has two calendars. The one on the screen (software) and another stored inside a chip (hardware). The one in the chip seemingly has a bug where it thinks there is a Feb 29, 2010. This causes problems with various software components because they do not understand what Feb 29, 2010 is.

Once we wait another day, the chip will think it is March 1, 2010 and the software components will understand this date, so problem solved.

You might also wonder why is the date based off the GMT timezone when you live in another timezone? I have a theory for that...

Imagine you downloaded a beta which expired on Jan 1st. If you go to run it, then your PS3 tells you sorry it has expired. Now if you could turn the clock back to Dec 31st, you could still play it, right? So to stop you from doing that, the PS3 always uses GMT time and instead does a calculation for the time that is displayed on screen.

Let's say the PS3 knows it is 9:00 AM in GMT timezone. I set my PS3 clock to 1:00 AM via the XMB. What the PS3 actually stores is the difference in time (-8 hours).

This would also explain why some people are seeing Dec 31, 1999 on their XMB. The internal clock can't return a valid date, so we get a default date like Jan 1, 2000 instead. Thenthe PS3 does the calculation (-8 hours in the example above) and we end up with Dec 31, 1999.

Thanks for sharing, funny thing though.... they should have seen this coming since PS3 slim isn't affected. Since slim is not affected, so means they fixed it. And if they fixed it, they knew about it.... But did they do anything for the phat by releasing a pre-emptive patch? No. You see what this implies? BUY PS3 SLIM.

Or hardware engineer just forgot to mention this to their boss..... too much flooded with work on the Playstation Gem? I don't know... I'm thinking too much!

*Goes back to playing on his slim*
