I'm quite confused with whole situation. Does PS3 really need to connect to PSN to play games? Or this is internal system error?

Luckily my LCD monitor not yet arrived. My PS3 has been sitting duck since i got it last Saturday. Will be bad as$ if i powered it on today and this sh!t happen lol

ppl have signed in on thier slims when the phats stopped working, and all trophies are still there. but if it's internal clock error, it should resume back to normal tomorrow. we'll see. if not, then i'm gonna picket for a replacement from Sony!

damn the ps3 slim dosent even have touch sensor and can't on by using a controller ..... i got too many dlc to lose ... when they say resolve in a couple more hours they better mean it ! Thank god i din put in my heavy rain my beatiful ending trophy of all four survive would have been fcuked. Mw 2 as well .

Yup confirmed internal error. I pull out the internet cable before turning on the PS3 just a while ago and voila I still get the error.

i assume since demos (free content) have no trophies, they all work then?

Hmmm... haven't tried my PS3 since last night till now to go online... hope they fix this problem soon...

UPDATE - Sony has updated on an update, saying "We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them."

UPDATE 2 - A mass story-telling session on internet gaming forum NeoGAF points towards the issue potentially being related to a calendar bug in older PlayStation 3 consoles, not the PlayStation Network as was first suspected. Bear in mind this is mob science, however, and is by no means official confirmation on the cause of the problem.
