Aiyak..... so that means in the next month or so, no more Kuro's in worldwide market? Even the 42"? sad.gif

So by the time line I stated, best plasma available will be from Pana eh? No more Kuro's? sad.gif

Ah, such a pity that Pioneer bows out from the plasma tv revolution that they started in the 1st place. seems like by the time the home reno is done, and i have money to spare, it'll have to be panasonic plasma then. sad.gif

Is it 100% confirmed that Pioneer have quite production of their plasma TV's altogether?

If it is so, is there any light at the end of the tunnel, that they may return back to the their plasma revolution roots later?

So what's the 2nd best plasma TV available locally [ I really hate those ghosting effect when watching football / auto and bike races ]? Size - wise, between 40 - 50"?

Just when I'm on my way to have my own landed property + settle down, Pioneer bowed down. Aiyaiyai!

So the Panny plasma range is pretty close to Kuro's PQ eh? So what about TH-P42G10K [ as this one got the NeoPDP panel too ]? Should be around RM6k now right? So probably the replacement next year would be around RM 7k?

Anfield posted this in the Everything About Plasma etc thread. Is this true? Will we see Kuro's tech in Panny plasmas with next year's models?

QUOTE
Yes, unfortunately it is true.

LCD panel manufacturers marketing strategy has done its job well. Better margins for shops, better incentives to sell. As well as a good deal of "burn in" marketing has made LCD more popular. Most people looking to upgrade that 29in CRT moved to 32in or 37in LCDs.

However, this year saw a slight shift as Panasonic dropped prices of the 42in and 50in entry level plasmas. The cost of manufacturing has also dropped. Armed with >3 Lumens/Watt technology they became brighter and could compete with the LCDs in teh showroom environments. This year, nothing new came out of the LCD camp, LED backlighting that came last year saw some hype over edge lighting but it did not improve anything too much, slightly better black levels and the main improvements were in thickness.

Next year, Panasonic (which is the pushing hard on plasma) is pushing 3D tech and no real news of 5Lumens/Watt implementation. 5Lumens/Watt I believe is the real deal for plasmas to pull thru. However, with Pioneer pulling out of the market, not sure if Panny will soldier on in progress. They have licensed the Kuro patents from Pioneer and we shd see them in full force in 2011 if they start working on them instead of 3D.

Anyway, end the end, there will be something that gives. Let's see.

Some of the tech is already in 2010 Pannys VT/V series.

Next year, hopefully more. But conventional wisdom tells me that it might be only on the higher end models, as it would be more expensive.

G10 in Malaysia does not have THX, so IMHO its not really value for money. They have a low gamma and not too great colour decoding.

Anfielddude, in your own honest opinion, which plasma will have almost - similar PQ like the now - gone Kuro's around G10 prices, middle of next year? or should I just forget the plasma tv idea altogether and keep to my lowly CRT? i really dun have 10k to spend just for a tv sadly, even if i keep on saving my cash until middle of next year, for i do want a very - slightly - upmarket beginner 5.1 system to go with it. sad.gif

Added on April 14, 2010, 8:13 pmnow my uncle is asking about it too. guys, anyone know where there is still stock? my uncle doesn't believe me saying that it's the best plasma tv range in the world that beats any lcd, plasma or the new led+lcd tvs lol. he wants to see the difference and if it is proven to his eyes it's the best ever, he'll buy the largest one cash lol.

by the way, all/any parts from the KRP-600M to PDP-LX508G and to PDP-428G will be available until when? my uncle's other criteria just in case anything happens lah.

damn it, no time to drop by bangsar village today!

if i can find a KRP-500A for Rm12,999, should i go for it? I know the price can get lower during the times when stock was available. 13k if a few years ago aint that much for a flat screen but today when prices are so low, i wonder if its prudent to spend so much on one. comments appreciated

if i got the cash, i would buy it immediately [ well, after checking for dead pixels and the 5 year guarantee card is chopped + signed ], although I have no place to showcase it!
