It is not the tuition provider that you should depend on but rather the lecturers. Check out the 1st page of this thread to find the recommended lecturers. But note that the quality of the lecturers is not the sole criteria in passing your papers.

Have anyone requested for a transcript from OBU after completing their Bsc. in Applied Accounting? How is the CGPA calculated?

the classes of degree are dependable on your average marks for F4-F9 + grade of your assignment

BSc determination of class of degree

That I know. What I am asking is the calculation of the CGPA since we can request for a copy of a transcript. Most master requires a relevant degree with >3.0/3.5 CGPA.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE PASSED?
You will receive a certificate, normally within three months of the results letter and you will be invited to attend a graduation ceremony to celebrate your achievement. Students can also request for a copy of their transcript

Would ACCA recognise 9 papers exemptions as a degree?
*
Each degree from different institution provides different exemptions. The maximum exemption is 9 but some degree may only provide exemptions as low as 4. Check out how many exemptions you are qualified to obtain in the ACCA website.

You can get the OBU degree if you do the assignment after completing the F papers.

doing P level now? hehe...have fun!

ck23 already has an Adv. Diploma from TARC. He is not qualified for the OBU degree as you have to not be exempted from any of the F7 to F9 papers to be eligible.

ck23, for your case, I suggest going to any university that only needs you to study for an additional semester to complete your degree, eg. UTAR.

Hi, i am a diploma in accounting holder. Now i am wonder i should go for ACCA or get a degree in Accounting&Finance. Honestly speaking, i am not a hardworking type person. If choose ACCA, i scare i will stuck at failing the paper and at end i only got the diploma. Need some advice from you guys smile.gif
*
Since you already know that ACCA is difficult, you better do something about your laziness. I assume that you will be exempted from F1-F4. The remaining F5-F9 will help you get a degree from OBU. You don't really have to be hardworking to pass ACCA but it really helps.

lets say i have the money, but im not sure about time, does graduating early really mean that much?

The CAT > ACCA route only provides technical knowledge while lacking in soft skill building.

Assuming you take the normal foundation > degree > ACCA route, it is at least 5 years, 2 years slower than ACCA.
It really all depends on what are you going to do with that time advantage.

Actually Stanford GSB and Harvard accepts those without working experience but the average student age is usually 27-28 with solid 5 years experience.

But do you think you can match these working professionals with just an ACCA qualification with mediocre extra co-curricular activities and without working experience?

I am asking on behalf of my junior, who is just freshly out of Form 5.

He wants to do ACCA and take CAT rather than a degree then ACCA.

Which college does offer CAT n ACCA in its program in KL?

Any info shared, is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Added - Apparently, can also take advance diploma and proceed to ACCA. Which one is more advisable?
*
This June, CAT will be replaced by FIA. It will take only half a year to complete compard to CAT's 1 year.

Maybe you can try out the tuition centres at KL eg. KSA, McO etc. But if your junior has no financial difficulties, maybe he can try fork out a little more to enjoy university life while taking ACCA, eg. Sunway, INTI.

The main difference between Diploma/Degree > ACCA and CAT/FIA > ACCA is the lack of assignments. Lots of assignments.
This is because ACCA is 100% paper based. If your junior's English and soft skills are already good, that going through the CAT > ACCA route should be better since it's at least 1 year faster. Many people in my batch of ACCA lacks presentation skills, this might hinder your prospects in your working life later on.

Can i know what am i suppose to expect during an assessment at PWC?  >.<  It's a test right?
*
According to a friend of mine, the assessment are some personality, analytical objective questions, shouldn't be much of a problem.

The interview part was kind of shocking. Its a one-to-one interview, something like a getting-to-know-you session, not the kind of interview I was anticipating. =/

HEy my college is offering advance diploma programme and can internally assess 3 paper which is p1 p2 and p3 in 1 year. Then another next 8 month is ready you to sit another last 2 papers. How do you all think about it? ISit risky? Since we only can bring forward 1 subject not but not p paper to the next 8 month. IF you failed do so, then need to repeat in another year. How do xot all think pls give some comment. IF we follow the schedule set by college and pass all the exam, then only 22 year old become an acca.sounds interesting but risky
*
May I know which college are you referring to? Or perhaps you can provide more details about the program. People usually take only 6 months for P1, 2 and 3, and an additional 6 months for the remaining 2 optional papers. Your program's 1 year and 8 months seems to be very slow.

Just my 2 cents worth.

diploma -degree - acca ---> enjoy life + longer duration + expensive
CAT-ACCA ----> no assignment + short duration + cheaper + can do thesis to get Oxford Brooke University degree before P papers in ACCA
canot jump to degree from CAT ...
*
CAT is equivalent to a 1st year degree. Check out the respective university requirements since I don't think all universities recognises it.

Better follow the case name. If possible, follow those cases quoted in the model answers. Imagine you're the marker, comparing student A quoted exactly the same cases like ur marking scheme, and student B using his own cases/examples (although valid), I think the advantage is with student A.
*
According to my lecturer, you can either cite the case name or use the illustrations provided in the act. You have to use the exact illustration and not some random examples that you made up during exams.

I am in a dilemma in choosing option papers. I hope my peers and seniors can give me some insight. So I am thinking about P4,P5 or P6.

Can anyone please give their opinions on the syllabus(theory vs calculations), exam(theory or calculations) , the probability of passing and the difference level between the P papers and its respective F paper (P4/F9,P6/F6,P5/F5).

Any insights would be nice.. thanks in advance.

Can't really comment about P6 and P5. But for P4, what you learn in F9 is just the first part of P4. NPV analysis will be very confusing at times involving dual tax treatments, forex, assumptions, etc... You really need to understand the question in order to answer them. Then there's hedging, F9's hedging is nothing compared to P4. There are futures, options, swaps, you will need to identify when you will need to buy a call or put etc...
