Can anyone recommend some lecturers for P2, P4 & P5 in KL (July 2011 intake)? Don't ask me to refer to the first page. It is not updated and irrelevant. One of the lecturers even went to JB already.

So far I've only found:

KSA
P2 Joe Fang
P4 David Meow
P5 Chang Shew Leng

FTMS
P2 Spencer Cheah
P4 Oviyan
P5 Thenesh

is OBU really necesarry? let's say i plan to finish all profesional papers, do i still need to do OBU?

coz ppl say need to do it to have more advantage compared to other students with similar results. well, instead of paying extra money to get the OBU( bout rm 5k in sunway), why not spend more time focusing on the exams n do better than the "others". therefore, there's no need to compare OBU. lol at least that's my opinion.

coz everyone told me the same thing. it's practically useless. but since everyone is doing it, they just assumed it's necessary.

but paying 5k for something that has practically little value does not seem cost beneficial from an accountants point of view.lol

i'm doing F 789. but sunway just created this new "course" for us to prepare our OBU now so we can concentrate on our P papers later. it cost RM 1200 just for this extra course. GG n i think later when we get our results for 7,8,9, we still have to pay RM 5k for the OBU. i'm not sure about this second part. coz this new corse is only preparatory. they didn't give much info. they just say strudents must apply n i found out it's about OBU. i plan to cancel it.

in any case, i would also like to know if OBU is necessary to get a job.

wah suck blood oh, OBU is optional punya leh.
i dun plan to do OBU although i passed all F papers, as my average marks not qualified for 1st class honour already.

i was very supportive of doing OBU last time, coz i thought having ACCA only is very vulnerable.
but since i can't get 1st class honour degree, still have to pay 4000-5000 to the mentor for doing the thesis, so i changed my mind.

I am in a dilemma in choosing option papers. I hope my peers and seniors can give me some insight. So I am thinking about P4,P5 or P6.

Can anyone please give their opinions on the syllabus(theory vs calculations), exam(theory or calculations) , the probability of passing and the difference level between the P papers and its respective F paper (P4/F9,P6/F6,P5/F5).

Any insights would be nice.. thanks in advance.

Can't really comment about P6 and P5. But for P4, what you learn in F9 is just the first part of P4. NPV analysis will be very confusing at times involving dual tax treatments, forex, assumptions, etc... You really need to understand the question in order to answer them. Then there's hedging, F9's hedging is nothing compared to P4. There are futures, options, swaps, you will need to identify when you will need to buy a call or put etc...

F9 to P4 : 50% similar in terms of foundation. Imagine ask you to run 10km in F9 but ask you to run another 15km in P4 but at faster time.

F6 to P6 : 10% similar. F6 do tax computation while P6 tackle specialized stuff (Trust, .....). Its like asking you to swim after running.

F5/P5 : Same like finance but dwell more in theory than computational.

P7 don't want ?

If you wanna work early before getting acca, obu (as a degree) will help you land a job first. Whether you get accepted for interview or not depends la. For Big4 they will take even those without full qualification (provided you can convince them to hire you).

You get what you paid for.

Thanks

Hey did anyone ever enroll in CAT inti sj sept intake before? How was the class? Even though the class starts at sept but it ends at the same time as the July intake (dec 2012). Does that means I will have to work harder to catch up with syllabus?

Can I start taking paper (f1 and f1) at Dec even though I start my course at Sept?
