Will be making a trip to Tokyo on 8 May. I will be staying in near Haneda Airport. Will do sight seeing around Tokyo from 9 to 12 May. Need to ask a few question about Tokyo.
1. Does GSM phone works in Japan?
2. What is the best mode of transport for this short stay? Do I need to get a Suica card or a weekly unlimited travel card?
3. What are the must see location in Tokyo and it's surrounding area without needing to stay overnight away from Haneda.
4. Anyone try using TFG (tokyo free guide)?
5. Does Tokyo suffer from power shortage or power rationing?

1) not sure if GSM is 3g or not but if your phone supports 3g, it should work - provided that your sim card is a 3g sim card. Anything lower than that - sorry won't work.
2) Really depends on the amount of travelling on metro/jr train. If you intend to use alot of the train, then buy the weekly unlimited card. If not, get suica card & be charged per ride would be affordable too. Plan your journey well.
3) You can see almost all of tokyo without having to stay overnight away from Haneda. Why not stay in the city itself? Why must stay in Haneda - you'll spend quite a few of your yens just to go and come back (to the hotel). If you are staying at a central accomodation - can cut down on the train rides.
4) Not sure - never used that service before.
5) Not sure.
