I think your sms save in memory card.
When connect usb to your computer. You computer only read memory card and not your handset memory, so by default E72 will automatic switch sms default memory to phone memory since memory card cannot access.
Same with the themes that you install in your memory card.

Internet -> web -> options -> settings -> general -> access point -> always ask

ctrl panel -> settings -> connections -> destinations (to select polarity of your access point)

Go to world traveler setting select access point always ask and then internet connection always ask
after that on the next page on update interval, select manually

Did you go to world traveler setting to setup the instruction that I given to you?
make sure "Update interval" in a pages select "manually"

Go to applications -> traveler -> settings
and
Weather > Options > Settings > Update interval > Manually
follow by the currency

You need to upgrade your world traveller to the latest version to see the "always ask" option.

And did you enable e-mail? What I mean is a push mail.
If you enable it, sure i will automatic connect without asking for it.

You need to cancel your push mail subscription at the in menu > email
Just delete all the account.
For the destinations, is depend on you to use what network type you want when you connect to internet.

If you setting this is ok already, is consider preferences
Internet -> web -> options -> settings -> general -> access point -> always ask
Whenever you connect to the internet, it will pop-up a message to show you which connection you want to use.

If you want advance option.
You and create a new destination and copy your preferred access point to it.
Control panel > Settings > Connection > Destinations > Options Manage > New Destination.
Then you can set polarity on it,
Lets say polarity is like this
1. Home WLAN using Streamyx
2. Digi wireless broadband
3. 3G connection using Digi prepaid
You will 1st show you to connect to wlan if available, if not, will connect to Digi wireless broadband

Wifi is free of charge, if you connect to gprs or 3g, then it will charge for your bill amount

After update the firmware, did you format your phone buy pressing *#7370# or format your memory card?

Something already crash inside at your handset, sure want to format to solve this problem.
Or you can plug out the memory card, try enter the facebook, see it is still have this problem or not.
