 hi all, im a new user,need some help

hi there,i just bought my hero,n im kinda blur bout it(coz using iphone b4)just wanna enquire,why my hp is always on edge and not 3g?i did the settings from the maxis site,but all i got is the H logo on my hero.

Edge is E.

H logo on your Hero is HSDPA.

HSDPA is High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, an enhanced 3G. Also known as 3.5G.

Added on February 25, 2010, 9:01 pmand one more question,i know this question can be found on the faq question,i just want a more detailed explantion.what is the different between rooting and changing roms?or we need to root the hp first in order to change the rom?i just gotten myself a hero,with android market already inside,i dont know it is a oversea unit or sumone already rooted it

Yes, u've answered your own question. anyway the pinned hero thread explains step-bystep on how to do it.

you can go to xda-developers website forums and go through all the customized roms they have but whatever you do remember to do a nandroid backup first of your default rom!

How come u don't know bout ur unit? Did u buy it from a 2nd hand shop?
