i have a pc with windows xp and redhat dual boot, i just installed slackware 10.1 on it and install lilo at the mbr. The problem is that lilo only boot windows and slackware, i added these line to lilo.conf

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=RHEL4
read-only
root=/dev/hda6

i install lilo and then reboot the pc, when i select RHEL4 from the menu it boot into slackware and no long later the kernel panic. What is the proper lilo configuration to load redhat enterprise linux 4?

hmm kernel panicked... there will be a lot of reason.
What i really appreciated when any problems occured will be error messages and log files. They are the system administrator best friends. in your case just error mesages will appear. how about paste the message here and hopefully some pro will examine for u.

and are you sure your root partition is /dev/hda6? better check it out.

*Disclaimer: I haven't really dual-booted two distros before, so here's a wild stab at your problem. I reckon it's two-fold:

1) LILO isn't using the right kernel image. Since /boot lives within Slackware, you'd really want to mount RHEL's /boot partition somewhere, put that into lilo.conf, and re-run lilo.
2) initrd. Don't forget this if you're using the stock RHEL kernel.

I'll second wKkaY's statement. Looks like a wrong kernel...
