With OPR being raised, it gives chance for banks to increase BLR, while FD rate might staying put though, so profit margin could be widen.

When rate going down, the first one going down is deposit rate. When going up, the first one to go up is BLR.

is that means they are discouraging us from putting too much money in bank as FD?

good thing is, atleast our boustead is still giving us a decent dividend over the past 3 qtrs.

Locally, liquidity is ample, banks are not short of money until need to increase FD rate to attract fund coming in.

What they want is those 3-5 years FD, structured investment product, that can lock down the interest rate, so that any increase rate in the future will beneficiary to them.
What they want is long term secured fund currrently.

That's why you see there are some banks offer 3 years FD, with 3.2-3.7% interest rate. Because interest rate has only one way to go currently based on the trend and situation, i.e. up or stay put only.
