Better do repaste, much more effective, cheaper too

I repasted my Y530 1 week after I got it

I tried cooling fan (RM45 cooler master one). Literally no difference. If I raise up the back with 2 notepads (about 2cm height combined), I got slightly better thermals surprisingly. Free yet effective way

90+C is high, sure got thermal throttle if you monitor clock speed

Undervolt and consider repaste (needed if you encounter uneven core temps)

Replace thermal paste...nothing related to OS

In general: TG Kryonaut. But only works well with good heatsinks and the amount is little (enough for a few applications only)
Otherwise CM Mastergel Maker Nano (currently using)

Dry out quickly in laptops due to low mounting pressure (better than Arctic MX-4 but still not that good)

MX-4 can dry out in a few weeks, not sure about NT-H1 - if I remembered correctly it depends

Kryonaut also can dry out quickly if the heatsink is lemon - contact surface not even, low pressure etc

Probably the cooling solution is limiting

Make sure you have applied the undervolt (yes it can happen)

Yes, from my experience XTU is very troublesome to use

If you would prefer lower temperature, most likely need to reduce core clock turbo value, eg reduce core clock value to 35 instead of 39. This can be done through throttle stop but not in XTU. For my case without re-pasting, I reduced my all core clock to 32 and temperature always maintain around 75-80C (full load).

yes it will reduce clock speed and impact minimal FPS in game. Since those AAA games utilize graphic more than processor.

Normal usage mean web browsing, documentary stuff, watch youtube? These usage will not affect much but 3D rendering and video editing will have slight impact - longer time to process.   

May I know what you use to test temp?
