QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Apr 3 2019, 11:04 AM) Better do repaste, much more effective, cheaper too laptop not even one month old yet la. buying cause i like the laptop to be higher cause my table is quite low, so i was thinking since want it higher why not just get a cooling fan

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Apr 4 2019, 04:21 PM) I repasted my Y530 1 week after I got it I tried cooling fan (RM45 cooler master one). Literally no difference. If I raise up the back with 2 notepads (about 2cm height combined), I got slightly better thermals surprisingly. Free yet effective way ohh, any better performance after repaste ?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Apr 5 2019, 04:36 PM) Better thermals of course CPU temp playing destiny 2 is around 96 to 98 , but i don't notice any thermal throttle. Is it ok for the long run ? or should i under volt it slightly ?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Apr 6 2019, 05:02 PM) 90+C is high, sure got thermal throttle if you monitor clock speed Undervolt and consider repaste (needed if you encounter uneven core temps) Ah okay, would repaste required.me to install os and other stuff again ? Generally have no clue about repaste.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ May 7 2019, 07:08 PM) In general: TG Kryonaut. But only works well with good heatsinks and the amount is little (enough for a few applications only) Otherwise CM Mastergel Maker Nano (currently using) Ah thanks, will look into it. How bout Noctua NT - H1 is it any good ?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ May 7 2019, 07:24 PM) Dry out quickly in laptops due to low mounting pressure (better than Arctic MX-4 but still not that good) How quick is quick, can last for at least 2 years ? How bout TG Kryonaut

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ May 8 2019, 12:16 AM) MX-4 can dry out in a few weeks, not sure about NT-H1 - if I remembered correctly it depends Kryonaut also can dry out quickly if the heatsink is lemon - contact surface not even, low pressure etc Oh okay thanks. Currently deciding to go with Kryonaut or NT - H1.

CPU temp still go ups to mid 90 but GPU stays at constant 76 So weird haha

Illegear Laguna, Undervolted -135v.
Fan noise is same and clock speed mostly maintain at 3.8 Ghz.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ May 19 2019, 07:23 PM) Probably the cooling solution is limiting Make sure you have applied the undervolt (yes it can happen) I'm using XTU to undervolt, should i try and use throttle stop ?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ May 20 2019, 12:22 AM) Yes, from my experience XTU is very troublesome to use Alright I'll try using throttle stop to see if the temp are better !

QUOTE(obs5279 @ May 20 2019, 11:33 AM) If you would prefer lower temperature, most likely need to reduce core clock turbo value, eg reduce core clock value to 35 instead of 39. This can be done through throttle stop but not in XTU. For my case without re-pasting, I reduced my all core clock to 32 and temperature always maintain around 75-80C (full load). this would reduce the clock speed no? will this effect the game performance ?

QUOTE(obs5279 @ May 20 2019, 01:58 PM) yes it will reduce clock speed and impact minimal FPS in game. Since those AAA games utilize graphic more than processor. ohh, then i will give it a try. i played destiny 2 most of the time, the CPU usage is always low but the temps go up to the mid 90s

QUOTE(obs5279 @ May 20 2019, 01:58 PM) yes it will reduce clock speed and impact minimal FPS in game. Since those AAA games utilize graphic more than processor. how bout normal usage ? will it also have minimal impact as well ? kinda noob at this haha

QUOTE(obs5279 @ May 21 2019, 08:39 PM) Normal usage mean web browsing, documentary stuff, watch youtube? These usage will not affect much but 3D rendering and video editing will have slight impact - longer time to process. Oh haha I don't do rendering and stuff, only coding stuff. Good to hear it won't effect much !
