Another noob tourney.... registration RM80 with total prize of RM900(1st 2nd and 3rd). Better than to rob ......

Well.. the main purpose for this tourney are to let the newbies gain experience in tournaments like this.. and furthermore this cafe doesnt have any sponsors.. if that's what they could afford.. then there's nth we could do about it.. and if ure not interested then juz ignore it.. its as simple as tat.. no offense

Doesn't have sponsor i can understand. Doing tourney to make money is another case. This is too obvious they wanna make profit from here.
Proper way of organising a tournament without sponsor....
Prize Money to base of total money of registration.
Eg.
1st Prize 60% of total registration collected (minus operation cost)
2nd Prize 30% of total registration collected (minus operation cost)
3rd Prize 10% of total registration collected (minus operation cost)

actually, it kind of looks like that IS how it is, just that they might've rounded down/up the numbers a bit. assuming 16 teams, since it is a 1day event, at rm80 a team we get rm1280. i'm not sure how long dota matches last (never watched one myself), but i'll take 1 hour as a standard charging block, and rm2 per hour per PC as the standard rate. so we take 10PCs for the 10players, and we get rm300 for 15 matches in terms of Cafe charges. that leaves rm980. rm900 for prizes, rm80 for any extra costs or add ??? = PROFIT!

of course they do stand to make a little bit, most of the extra can be justifiably considered operating costs.

I realy do think u never attended school before..... Rm300 for internet charges? for a 16 team tourney? RM300= 150 game play for really nice cafe....but px sup 9 cafe will definitely less than that.... ok lets say RM2 per hour.

last 16 = 8 games
last 8 = 4 games
Semi = 2 games
2nd n 3rd Bo3 = 3 games max
Final Bo3 = 3 games max

Normally game wont last 1 hour.... only competitive games will last that long...lets calculate with 1 hour per game
8 + 4 + 2 + 3 +3 = 20 hours of game play

According to ur calculation, RM300 for cafe charges divide by 20 hours
OMG PX is charging u rm15 per hour to host this tourney....

lol, you call me uneducated, when you forgot that 1 match requires 10 PCs? and on top of that, a tourney is not considered competitive? i'm lol-ing so hard nao

considering its a one day thing, i would expect that the number of teams would be limited to 16, unless PX is as big as FTZ and is willing to completely close down for hte day so that all 200 PCs can be used for the tournament.

also, at rm15 an hour, thats pretty cheap

You are on drugs right? I mean some of the points I remember you bringing up in previous threads were pretty good ones, but I didnt know DotA became a 1 player game.

Though with that said, I do believe that the prize money could have been better. Maybe don't even charge for the computer usage? The fact that more people will know about this CC (and MAY probably go back to the cc after the tourney) should compensate for the lack of profit.
