Hello there. Thanks in advance for helping a noob like me. I've apparently got a problem with taking my Xbox's motherboard out. There is a copper coloured wire, connected from the FAN cable to the MOTHERBOARD, and i was wondering if i can just simply snap it out and take it out. The picture's down there. As you can see from the picture, there is a little brown color wire soldered onto the motherboard, and it apparently blocks me from taking it out. I'm scared that if i snap it, it will spoil the fan. Anyone who knows what to do with this? Thanks in advance. Attached thumbnail(s)

This is a 12v fan mod cable. Originally the cable is not there and if this console is repaired by someone other than Microsoft, that's the one you might expect.
Solder it out ot juse use something to cut the cable. then if you still want the fan mod then just connect it back.

no. the 12v fan mod is to switch ur fan speed from 6v(auto) to 12v. if u wish, just cut the wire. is not necessary to mod the fan.

QUOTE(mematron @ Feb 22 2010, 11:58 AM) meaning even if i don't plug it it will still work? Because I don't have any soldering stuff. it will. the fan will run at default speed. It's up to you to restore the connection or not. but remember not to leave a stray cable around
