i dabbled in forex briefly in late 2008/early 2009, put in 100USD and played with it by essentially guessing and was lucky enough to earn 200 bucks...

quickly withdrew it for fear of losing it and left my initial capital in it to play with, since then was busy with other things and only made occasional trades, sure enough proceeded to lose the 100 bucks lol

anyway i'm thinking of getting back into action and try my luck with a bit of money, think i should read up more on this first, gonna revisit babypips.com and perhaps even go to the national library and read books on technical analysis or something (i wonder if there is), lol anyone up for this study session?

just wanna ask what brokers do you guys use? is it easy to deposit and withdraw? since all are overseas brokers i'd think converting to USD or AUD before wiring over would kill already with the banks' massive spread in exchange rates

i was in Australia back then so i could wire AUD straight, i opened an account with Oanda and thus far nothing to complain about, except for the non-MT4 platform

also wanna ask when you guys opened an account was the process easy? since we're from Malaysia did the brokers like have restrictions or additional requirements or something

probably gonna begin babypips.com revision tonight

Hi heliora, oanda is not bad, im using it, bt do keep in mind tat their quotes r different wiv others, it might be higher or lower(i forgot) than others in terms of price, one thing is if u r using simple charting techinques it is gud, if more advanced the r more lack of fancy tools..

Happy trading.. =)

Oanda is great i've done withdrawal before and everything is smooth. Oanda is famed for the tightest spread they offer smile.gif but their charting sux.
*
I think Oanda is one of the most longstanding brokers around, it doesn't even market itself much, and as far as i know it offers one of the best spreads. But ya their java trading platform wouldn't be as snappy as MT4 and doesn't have as many features, but it is good enough for a beginner.

In any case i can always open a demo MT4 account and do my analysis there haha rclxms.gif .

Too bad they charge for withdrawal, i think some brokers don't.

i can assure u, oanda is one of the best...
http://www.cftc.gov/marketreports/financia...rfcms/index.htm
open the excel file. u will see oanda is one of the registered Futures commission merchants.
*
Ya you can see Oanda has one of the strongest capital base among the forex brokers that i recognise.

They will charge a withdrawal fee if u withdraw it the 2nd time in a month, USD15 i think, first withdrawal no charge..
*
No, first withdrawal is 20 bucks, second withdrawal onwards is 15 bucks more on top of that.
Can see from here https://fxtrade.oanda.com/your_account/fxtr.../withdraw_funds.

heliora first withdrawal there is NO CHARGES for oanda la .. the only charges is the TT charges which charged by the bank -.-

are you sure we're looking at the same page? it's clearly stated there that there's a bank wire first withdrawal fee in the table and 15 bucks more for second withdrawal onwards

whether it's oanda that's charging or oanda's bank it doesn't matter, there is a withdrawal charge on the first time already, and i'd think the local banks would have another charge

good lord... heliora then show me which broker does not charge you wiring fee.. the TT charges is the charges done by the BANK TO WIRE UR MONEY BACK HERE ! oanda does not charge you any fees for transferring money. TT charges is STANDARD PROCEDURE for banks to wire money.

There are some brokers that charge the wiring fee and ALSO A TRANSACTION FEE (forex.com if not mistaken and a few others). what you are stating is oanda is sucking part of your money when it is actually wiring fee charges which is incurred when u wire money ANYWHERE at ANYBANK even in malaysia.
*
haha well i got confused then, cause when i check out other brokers they all say they don't charge a dime while conveniently omitting the bank wire fee, so i just assumed it's zero cost except for the charges by my receiving bank

The No. 1 Reasons to Be a Systematic Trend Follower

Want to be a millionaire? Start thinking and acting like one! That means joining the minority who make sound moneymaking decisions every day. How? All traders must pass through the enlightenment barrier before they can win big and it all starts with superior investor education:

Profit in Up and Down Markets:
Trend following doesn't swear an allegiance to a bull or bear market. It follows trends to the end. No matter how ridiculous trends might appear early and no matter how insanely extended they might appear at the end, follow trends. Why? Because they always go further than anyone expects! Ignore momentum at your peril!

thats very true, at least he can share his views here, and we can follow his trade or take an opposing trade....

haha ya so far from all the trades he's done the success rate is pretty high, just that his leverage is so high that a few losing trades killed him

Anyone profit from AUD/USD?
*
Yup profited 400 pips from 0.87. Closed the trade and sold again, now -45 pips lol.

Not sure why the divergence between AUD and EUR, EUR having a strong rally and AUD just keeps falling.
