Can we install solar power cells to power our house electricity?
Is it legal? Does TNB allows it cause it means loss of electricity revenue to them

Its possible but equipment cost still currently outweight the "rebate" you get back. I don't think we have some sort of mechanism which we can sell electricity yet.
And I also heard that you need to apply special permit from TNB as well to install solar panels. Not sure about this. Doesn't make sense to me. |

actually if you install photovoltaic cells you dont cut loose from TNB. you will feed your power back to grid and TNB will install a second meter to measure how much you feed back. when they read your usage meter, they will minus what you generated and you pay the balance if any.
but: the cost for solar panels is still so high that this will not really provide you with a reasonable ROI. or electricity is too cheap |

i'll wait and see how much they pay. to produce say 1000kWh/month hours you need to invest around 100k or so and if they just offset your costs by means of difference calculation as they do now this is only around 400 RM per month, or just under 5k p.a. i.e. 5% ROI and that does not consider maintenance of the panels and their life span. they would have to offer a significant higher tariff to make it worth one's while.

No matter how, in term of ROI solar is still way way expensive than taking current directly from TNB.It is rich man game. Joking only. |
