Hi I'm planning a trip to Bangkok the middle of this month (July). Will be traveling by train (KTM) via Express Langkawi and then change to the Thai train in Hatyai.

Does anyone know of any good hostels in Bangkok town that is affordable, clean and easy to move around? At the moment, I'm looking at @HuaLamphong and Saiphaipae. They're both below RM50 for the mixed dorms. Anyone with any experience with these places? Any other suggestions?

Another thing, what is the best way to move around? Walking? Public transport? And are there any places to go other than the common tourist destinations? Those places that locals go...

Thank you!

Will be heading to Bangkok soon. Looking forward to experience the local lifestyle there. Not so much into shopping but the people, food, and historical places. Has anyone tried the foodcourt in MBK and the local food at 'non touristy' eating places like Office of Narcotics Control Board's cafeteria? Chilled at the Lumpini park? Got myself a good place in Thonburi. Quiet and not so touristy.
