As per title, what is the difference between HD Ready 1080p and Full HD? I have the HD Ready 1080p TV (Toshiba Regza 32CV500E), played Ps3 on it and looks great, if I buy full HD, will be better?

HD Ready 1080P can receive input signal of FULL HD thus can display resolution at 1366x768 as compared to 1280x720.

the diff is someone who is unable to use google nor wikipedia to find out the answers 1st

I googled already la, many people say HD ready 1080p is no different from Full HD, so I want to ask here to get your opinion

My limited knowledge tell me that,


1080p = 1920 x 1080 = Full HD

HD Ready, means the display is capable of receiving HD sources, maybe 720p or 1080i, or even 1080p.

Yes bro. It can receive up to 1080p signal. The only advantage of HD Ready 1080p set is that once they receive 1080p signal, the TV set can downscale the 1080p source to fit their native panel resolution of 1366x768.

HD Ready TV that can't receive 1080p signal will have to settle down for 1280x720p resolution although the panel has native resolution of 1366x768.

The mininum resolution for high definition is 1280x720, aka 720p High Definition. Any resolutions above that is high definition.

If by "hd movies" you mean blu-ray discs, they can play on your 1366x768 monitor in high definition and it will look decent. But some blu-rays with exceptionally clean transfers like the Dark Knight will really shine at 1080p (i.e. on a display that can do 1920x1080).

Whereas 1366x768 = 1,049,088 pixels, 1080p has almost twice the number of pixels-- 1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels. That's almost twice the amount of detail. So if you got some of the more recent blu-ray titles encoded at 1080p like Ironman, Dark Knight, Bourne Ultimatum, Transformers, Casino Royale, etc., those blu-ray discs look REALLY good on an 1080p display.

not much different. most of ps3 games use 720p native resolution. sometimes it support 1080p but doesn't mean the native resolution is 1080p.

even if u play bluray movies or movies with 1080p, u can't really see the different in your 32" lcd unless u watch movie really close right in your face

I believe all HD ready resolution is 1366x768 n its a Samsung brand, can please justified what u mean by low end HD ready.

Trying to find a TV that is 32" HD Ready 1080p, for my room, which brand u all recommend, cause already got the Toshiba 32 for living room

Try Samsung or Sony 32 Full HD..

buy bigger >40" la for ur living room. smaller than than wont benefit from full hd unless u sit 2-3 feet away. full hd so cheap now. move the 32" toshiba to bedroom
