wow.. nice graphic can handle 30fps and above even at very high settings ^^
wow..seriously u guys really making me think of getting the M11x
btw guys, if i buy an alienware from US, but 3 years warranty, isit automatically international warranty? how do i check? 3 years also got different types right? got the premium, advanced and basic, so which one is covered over here? sifus out here can explain? thanks
hmmm, if malaysia i noe la. the 3 years premium service + 3 years complete cover will become the international warranty. i will be upgrading my warranty to 3 years once i got my unit cuz i need that international warranty. how it applies? before i leave the country (about 10 days according to my SA), i have to call up dell to tell them i wanna register my warranty to international warranty. after that i will have to go online and fill in an online form which includes ur address in the country you're going.
so yea, tats all i noe lar, tats for malaysia orders. but US orders i not sure. u wanna order from US isit? cuz of name plate?
Oh, thanks...hmm wonder how is the international warranty process if buy from US...oh, cos can get cheaper i guess...nameplate also one attraction la

LOLZ. The information that you provided was invalid, please key in the correct information from step 1 to step 3 again.
Added on March 3, 2010, 1:09 amwow u play assassin creed 2!! i hope m11x can handle that kind of superb graphics.. wanna play that game so badly >.< hehez... gonna find the pirated version~ wakaka..
yeap.. lsat check was 9.30pm.. now check cannot liaw. haha hmm, how are u gonna get from US? ask ur fren or agent to buy isit? otherwise, dell wont let u buy USA punya unit..
(hopefully they're updating my account and order status xD)
Ask my fren lol...but have to lug it all the way back is gonna be a problem
lol i know it will make my dreams come true also..but so damn expensive damn...my dream laptop to fulfill my dream of playing every game at the highest setting
Cant afford the luxury of the currently available SSDs in the market, since none of them are sized big enough to cover the current 500GB HDD in my M11X. The 512GB SSDs are nowhere to be found, otherwise I would have gotten one already. Am not going to a size smaller than that, since looking at my current usage, it's already taken 233GB of the 500GB HDD, and the games kept on coming!
Posting from Starbucks BTS. Dropping by LYP yielded no promising results in my quest for finding the elusive 512GB SSD. Sometimes when you have the cash but dont have the place to spend it on also susah......sigh..
lol...Malaysia too far behind already...you want the latest technology items, u need to go to US the country of origin...cos SSD to them is expensive, but majority still can afford. Malaysians always wait for the technology to mature then when price go down only we can afford to buy...that's why all the shops here also like that. If they order 512 SSDs, sure can't sell...lol..even now HDTV also haven't matured here....
Yea, it is built to fit in two 17" lappie. Should be ok for 2 M17x if i'm not wrong.
Thanks for the quick reply bro
Guys, need opinion of those who used to own an alienware...How long can an alienware lappie last before it becomes outdated and cant play the latest games? outdated = even with minimum settings, the game is unplayable.
Welcome, am doing revisions for exams. lol. Well, the current line up will last you for at least 4 years i guess. this is pretty subjective i supposed. look at core 2 duo proc, it's still sustainable in today's market, tho it is slowly fading out. so imo, it's gonna last at least 4 years, if you can resist the temptation to change to another alien during that period of time lol
All the best in your exams Screemo..lol
Hmm...cos i was thinking isit better to get a good desktop i7-920, good graphic card, etc or get an alienware with i7-720QM, gtx260 graphics....cos the price would nearly be the same...i do play games, but only occasionally simply because my current lappie cant support todays games anymore..and its only been 3 years..lol. And a desktop with good specs would eventually be outdated in like 4-5 years? which is roughly the same time with an alienware...lol..I do like the idea of mobility gaming...although im thinking isit practical to carry the alienware all over...cos i know that thing is heavier than conventional laptops...i do go around with my lappie but not all the time. but the brand really makes me but the price makes me
The case in point here is, your own definition of what's portable. Heavyset folks have no qualms in lugging around larger laptops because they can afford to do so, strength-wise. Others may not wanna be burden by the encumbrance and/or weight. I had a 17inch Qosmio maxxed out at one time and I told myself that I can carry this around, because I want a powerful laptop with me wherever I go. Long story short, I ended up with sore shoulders, an increasingly painful back and the challenging situation of rearranging stuff around small tables in my favourite spots like Starbucks without looking like I'm setting up an office there! In the end, the Qosmio now already happy pass ownership to a nice South African friend of mine, who he himself is treating it like a desktop instead of anything portable (ie a laptop).
Which is why I draw the line to maximum of 15 inch for me to lug it around and for the laptop itself to be considered a "portable" unit. Anything more than that size, and the weight that comes with it, would probably have me revisit the same situation I had with the Qosmio before. And now, comparing the M11X and my old M15X, even though the M15X has more power under its hood, I'd rather game on the M11X because it is always with me all the time. A gaming laptop is only useful when it is being used, and for it to be used, it needs to be with you all the time. If a "laptop" is predestined to stay on a particular spot most, if not all the time, getting a desktop is more logical than a laptop.
My routine now, I carry my M11X everywhere I go. Because it is now "portable" enough, in terms of size and weight, to do so.
ADDENDUM: This would probably be the next mouse to get!

Yes, that thing is real!
Thanks for the insight stringfellow..hmmm..alright then, i guess its gonna be a normal desktop for me then....m11x in the future for a portable gaming laptop hehe...

I'm bringing my M11X for the trip to Universal Studios Singapore, I'll check if Hard Rock Hotel has complimentary internet access included with the stay package. Will just buy it through Steam, and leave it downloading all day long while I play in the theme park.
Also going to need the M11X to do some light photo and video editing from the Panasonic GH1 and Sanyo HD guncam I'm gonna use to document the trip. A moment of truth to see if the M11X is up to the task or not when it comes to HD editing.
Any lightweight photo/video editing software suggestions, fellas?
Hey I was in Universal Studios Singapore too..haha...too bad the tickets were already sold out..din manage to go inside..lol...went to sim lim square and felt the m11x for the first time...very nice and light..haha...and also tried carrying the m17x...lol definately non portable..weighs a tonne!

i would say around 5kg. no bag can fulfill its needs, but the Orion. LOL
Gonna get my Orion soon...lol...but still no alienware to fill it...lol...saw the Asus G51J 3D laptop at sim lim singapore..dun think its available in Malaysia though...looks cool.. and they even pop in the nvidia 3d vision kit with it...sigh dunno which to choose...alienware or Asus.... guys how? give ur opinions please...
ask this kind of question in alienware thread sure u wil get an alienware answer, in other words, mostly u will be hearing bias answer xD
just my 2 cent..
i wil got for alienware cuz i like the design. to me, i will put design and bran first, spec wise next.. hehehehe.. thats my bias answer =D
haha...well, at least u are honest....i like alienware cos of the brand and the outlook design of the cover and the backlighted keypads too and the cooling in alienware is supposedly very good...but thats it..the plastic stuff around alienware laptops beside the keys are very plain..lol..its heavy too...outlook is important but i think specs are important too...and im really looking forward for a 3D screen capable alienware...when that happens, it will definately be an alienware for me..haha...but for now asus looks pretty damn slick with the 3D function...

guys,i'm thinking of buying the m17x soon.. but i'm maybe buying the lowest specs of the m17x..
so...i have a few questions.. should i or should i not wait for the pc fair? cuz dell is offering the sli,but they keep extending this offer n now it ends on the 1st april.. so how? i'm afraid if i wait for the pc fair..i will loose out on the sli offer.. but i'm also afraid if i dont wait till the pc fair..there will still be the sli offer there plus some other cool upgrades or offers.. haizzz..
n one more thing..if i could upgrade one thing on the m17x lowest specs, what would it be? i'm thinking of choosing between the processor from 2.53ghz to 2.8ghz.. or upgrading the hd display from 900p to 1200p..
so pls help me out with this matter guys.. thanks beforehand!
lol no one can predict what promo they will give for pc fair, so no use trying to speculate....and for the lowest end for m17x on the website, ur graphics may be 280 and sli but then the proc they give cannot utilize it fully and become bottleneck...so also no point...actually i feel the reason why they give the dual sli is to clear stock...maybe clear the old procs...my suggestion is to wait for pc fair..unless u really need the alienware now..then go for it
I suggest you wait as well. I feel something new might be coming out since DDR5 Cards are in the market, and knowing ALIENWARE being known for having up to date hardware, they won't take it well seeing Sager already incorporating SLI GTX 285M cards into their unites and ASUS already having DDR ATI 5870 card in theirs. I expect ALIENWARE to hit back at them hard with a new lineup of internals so just wait and see. I woulnd't advice you to take the bottom line even though it comes with dual ATI 280M Cards.... Thats just my opinion.....
lol i hope u are right...lol
