I go for the Live for mkv and get a cheaplang rmvb for the low quality rmvb files.  A chaeapalang rmvb only cost Rm80 only.

WD remote control is simple but POHD remote control is full function. One advantage of POHD is time seek function which WD always forget to include for 3 generation already. tongue.gif

Timeseek is great , but fast forward and skip is sufficient for most occasion.

Btw, do you what is the time of the scene in the movies 2012 where the aircraft carrier got carried by the tsunami and smash into the whitehouse?
*
Nop. Time seek is for those who like the certain scene and can straight away go to that period to show their friend or others purpose can instantly to that preferable scene. Don't you think if you like to show the movies 2012 where the aircraft carrier got carried by the tsunami and smash into the whitehouse by pressing fast forward each time you show to your friend or you like this scene a bit tedious?
Here are some pros for POHD:

- supports internal HDD up to 2TB
- supports DVD menu navigation: this is a great feature
- can jump to a specific time in a movie
- has a zoom feature that is configurable in 5% increments, up to 300%; you can set width and height with different zoom factor to adjust aspect ratio.
- has a nice support forum and their moderators are helpful and willful to assist you
- configurable subtitles (color, position, size)
- professional remote with volume buttons (more buttons = more difficult to use, but more functions available with a press of a button)
- hdmi cable included

I guess he wasn't making a point about flaw in WDTV Live or comparing it to a PC. He was just trying to stress  how important the Timeseek feature is which the WDTV Live doesn't have.
*
You are absolutely right! This is one of the usage of time seek. For concert in mkv format, it becomes rather important because we want to watch that particular song, we can go there instantly, no need to fast forward everytime.

Btw, HD RMVB format in HK TV Series is getting more and more, so, this is another advantage for Mum and Dad, I believe.

Also a rmvb player is easily available for less than Rm80...that is what i do for my wife, put one unit in the bedroom for her.

*
I did mention HD RMVB, yr RM80 cannot play this format. Of course, u may say no need the hd rmvb since normal rmvb is more then enough for you. brows.gif

Added on February 22, 2010, 4:46 pmAny playonhd owners here experience any problem with DTS-HD/Dolby True HD passthrough? Can it really be done or I still need to wait for next firmware? Since the new batch supports DTS downmix.
*
DTS-HD downmix to analog or down to DTS 5.1 is ok, no pass thru. Until now, Dolby True HD still cannot work.

Cheers.

anyone try to stream  720p or 1080p movie via wifi n-draft? is it smooth?
*
It is not the 720p and 1080p resolution problem, it is the bitrates problem. If the bitrates more then 15mbps, it will lagging. For Network streaming, below 25mbps is ok.
Cheers.

You already answered your own question laugh.gif .....if rmvb files are not important to you, choose the WDTV Live as elites here did mentioned that the PQ of WDTV Live is better
*
Actually the PQ not really different. If you use 1080p projector project to 120", then you might notice the different. My AV intallers also mention can't see the different for 60" LCD full HD.

Not only the RMVB file capable, but a lot of advantages features in POHD, like time seek, YAMJ, BDISO and BDMV supported, subtitle font size and colour changeable, HDMI cable, full function of remote control, etc....

or mine is 150 but even this is good enough coz max can go is 2.5mbps. afterall i'm using Linksys WRTG54
*
Aiya, of course ma, pls use wireless n router, you can feel the power of n streaming.

Btw, fyi, A.C.Ryan wireless N is one transmission and 2 receiving data. The cheapest is 1 transmission and 1 receiving. The best is 2 transmission and 2 receiveing but this will cost double the price.

would like to ask POHD user, if copy the bluray dvd movie files into the hard drive, this POHD can output the DTS HD or Dolby Tru HD or not?
*
Let me clarify:
DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD available in Bluray only, not DVD.
POHD can downmix DTS HDMA to stereo or DTS 5.1ch. For Dolby TrueHD still cannot output the sound thru HDMI.

I mean the digital output can ouput the DTS HD and Dolby Thru HD to the amplifier, not direct output the analogue signal from the POHD media player.
*
Yes, from DTS HD MA to DTS 5.1ch thru HDMI to amp. TrueHD cannot.

u must have a system that accepts optical in and be able to decode DD/DTS if u wanna get 5.1ch from POHD mini.
*
Actually, I would like to suggest use HDMI port to pass the DTS to decoder. Now, new amp. will come with HDMI in and out. One cable settle all.

Did you find any Acryan POHD Wifi Dongle there?
*
You can get the original POHD wifi from Digital Mall or Low Yat. Come with cradle for better transmission.
POHD Wifi is 300Mbps with one transmission and 2 receving functions.

*
Yes, it is. With cradle, the dongle won't block the other USB host. And place the cradle on top of POHD, the transimmison and receiving is better, of course. Or you can hide the dongle to have a good view of POHD.

wat router do u used...mine to share...can it play 720p/1080p smoothly...
*
Pls use n router. To play HD files smoothly via wireless, it is not the resolution but bitrate factor. If your 1080p files bitrate below 13Mbps, it can play smoothly. The max we have tested POHD can go for wireless n is 13Mbps.
Cheers!
