hi guys,
I just bought a ps3 slim today. It's my first playstation console (never owned a ps1 or 2)..

Anyway, the set comes with a HDMI cable but my monitor (Dell 248WFP) does not have hdmi input. So i bought a HDMI to DVI converter separately. Came back, set up the whole thing, and then realized that i'm not getting any image from the PS3.. The monitor detects an input on the digital channel but i only get a black screen. I've tried connect to a normal CRT tv using the composite video cable and it works. Can't test a hdmi input monitor or tv as i don't have them.

Is there any setting that i need to do.. or could it be that the hdmi converter is faulty? bought it from sunway pyramid @ RM 25 (i know it's ex, but i was desperate to play FF13)...

Any advice? Will bring back that converter to the shop tomorrow. Any hdmi to dvi cable that's cheap and recommended? I asked around there and all the shops quoted me 90 bucks for one cable..

sigh..
got a major problem..

I'm using a dell E248WFP (native reso 1900x1200).. I can't get the ps3 to display through it. The monitor detects that there's an input and either goes into sleep mode (power button showing orange) or just shows a blank screen (power button green).

I've connected the ps3 to a normal tv using composite, den change the display to HDMI via the display setting... Nothing appears on my dell monitor.

Anyone here uses the same monitor? I need urgent advice on this... don't wanna spend summore money getting another monitor after spending so much on my ps3... T.T

BTW, i'm connecting my dell to ps3 using a hdmi cable with hdmi to dvi converter. I have tried 2 sets of hdmi and 2 sets of converter to rule out cable problem.
