Hey guys, just need some confirmation from those who'd upgraded their HDDs before:

Planning to get a 500GB to replace the stick 40GB (no need to about disk space for a long, long time), and I need to know if:

1) The backup utility backs up EVERYTHING, including locked saves (IE: Bayonetta saves)? Is there any data that the utility would refuse to backup? PSN accounts are not affected, right?

2) Do I need to run the backup utility for each user account (I had like, 5; so do i need to run BU 5 times to do complete backup?)

3) I read that downloaded games are also backed up, but first I need to deactivate them off PSN first, then reactivate them after backup is complete. Did I get this right, or it applies only for the Data Transfer utility?

4) After backup, I remove 40GB from PS3. All my old data still remains inside, right?

5) Best to sync trophies before removing HDD, correct?

Considering the above points, pls tell me if I missed any important steps that would cause potential probs (ie: lost saves, downloaded games no longer working, etc)

Thanks!

Hi all. Need some suggestions here.

My PS3 phat 40GB Singapore set had just YLOD, it's currently using a 500GB HDD i've installed, but i hear that it's best to change the HDD back to the stock 40GB before sending it for repairs, is that right? How do I get that game disc inside the BR drive back out?

Warranty is out, so what are the recommendation to get it fix? Send it to Sony Style? Local gameshops? Singapore set must send to Singapore to fix, or Sony Style Msia also can? How much does repair cost?

Lastly, would all the stuffs in my PS3 get erased after repair (esp from Sony)? DLCs, locked saves, etc. Can't backup anything now, lol.

Thanks.

So the best course of action for me is repair PS3 locally(heard that it won't last long), then save up and get a slim > Data Transfer?
