Hmmmm...another question, I have Dell S2209W LCD, can this monitor supports PS3? If it does, will I get low quality images due to the use of whatever converter (DVI to HDMI).. And what about the sound?

Should be fine as long ur monitor is 1920*1080. if 1650*1050 better not,

Sound you can just plug in to your speaker using rca to 3.5mm converter
*
How does the converter looks like? picta plz..
and how much it costs?

Hello everyone,

I know this is not the right place, but I seriously need advises.

Playing PS3 on LCD monitor, say 21.5 inch FULL HD LCD, without HDMI but with DVI (HDCP), use HDMI to DVI converter, will the image quality be degraded?

Thanks!!

No, HDMI is essentially DVI-D with Audio passthrough. Both of them are digital connections so there will be no image degrading of any kind.

Hello everyone,

I have 2 questions.

Q1.I'm using Dell S2209W, and planning to get myself a PS3. Since S2209W doesn't have HDMI, I would need to use the HDMI->DVI method. But I'm not sure which of the following options to choose. Please icon_question.gif

Method 1

Method 2

Would like to know which method provides the best image quality, and how much it would cost to buy the converter/adapter.

Q2. Since Dell S2209W doesn't have audio in/out, I need to use the AV cable method.

I'm using the following speaker (picture below)

As you can see there is an "Aux In" hole there..

Is this what I need to do?

Plug the Dual RCA-to-stereo adapter(picture above) into speaker's "Aux In", and finally the other end's RED and WHITE plugged with the AV cable from PS3..

Am I correct? Please icon_question.gif

Thanks ! notworthy.gif

Q2.
You answered your own question here already and yea thay's exactly what you need to get. smile.gif

I already got myself a free HDMI cable from Sony Style, would like to know if method 1 or 2 has any image quality difference, and which method is cheaper...

TQ

No image quality difference between either methods.
Since you already have a free HDMI cable, you just need to buy the adapter which should cost around RM10 - RM15.

A DVI-HDMI cable costs somewhere up to RM30 (there are cheaper ones of course).

I should be looking for DVI(male) to HDMI(female) right?

Where can I get them in KL?

TQ

Hi everyone

I'm using my speaker's "AUX IN" for PS3, while also plugging it onto my PC as well. I can basically listen to my PC and PS3 TOGETHER..

If now I wanna use HDMI for PS3 audio, how do I plug the cables, so that I can listen to BOTH my PC and PS3 together at the same time, like last time?

Please help me..

TQ

PS. I'm using Dell ST2410 LCD monitor

he mean the hdmi in only output the picture not the sound, unlike if you are using hdtv. you need y-splitter for audio output from ps3.

Are you sure? My Dell ST2410 has audio in and out ports.
