Yeah, GD65 is good enough even for hardcore overclockers imo. And if you're not planning to CF, you can just get a 500w PSU instead of a 800w.

I am using MSI P55-GD65.
My Core i7 860 has been OCed to 3.7Ghz with CoolerMaster Hyper TX3(Cheapo HSF) and Tuniq TX3(Thermal Grease) on MSI P55-GD65.
The Idling Temperature is 46-47C. Ambient Temperature is 48-52C. Stressed/Load Temperature is 67-69C.
I can go more of course, however, I don't want to have very high temperature. I think MSI P55-GD65 can go about 4.5-5.0Ghz for Core i7 800-Series.

Personally, I would recommend you to take Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme HSF and pair it up with Tuniq TX3. It's more powerful and cheaper than Prolimatech's.

You can drop the 800Watt PSU too if you're not going to CF/SLI. CPU OC won't use much Power. CF/SLI use a lot of POWER!

for mobo take GD65 n save ur money...
spend it on 1600Mhz RAM instead of 1333Mhz...
for PSU xigmatek NRP product is more cheaper, reliable and bang for buck i think... hmm.gif
750w already can handle ur new 5870... nod.gif

Take out those "Performance RAM Kit(1600Mhz's not 1333Mhz's)", change them to Normal RAM DDR3-1333 CL9 and take out the Motherboard(P55-GD80) to P55-GD65.
Lower down the PSU to Xigmatek 750Watt PSU or even lower like Xigmatek 650Watt PSU. Actually, even 500Watt is more than enough if you're not CF/SLI(Dual GPU).
Change the Prolimatech HSF to Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme(better performance and cheaper).
With these things being cut out, you got extra money indeed.
It's enough for you to change the Core i5 750 to Core i7 860.

I dont think it's possible for i7 8-series to hit 5.0ghz on air even though using some premium cooler eg mega, lapped true copper, venomous x, etc...

Did the statement I said show that I will use Air-Cooling or Water-Cooling for 5.0Ghz Core i7 860? I suppose NO right?
I said the MSI P55-GD65 can handle 4.5Ghz-5.0Ghz Core i7 800-Series only. If you use Air-Cooling for such a high OC, then, the hardware might burn. Yet, it still can OC to 5.0Ghz regardless the hardware damages.
However, in REAL/LOGIC view/world, you won't do that unless, you want to kill your CPU faster. So, Water-Cooling is recommended for extreme OC.
Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme can handle Core i7 860 @ 4.0Ghz-4.6Ghz without any problem at all.

FYI, Air-Cooling HSF now a day have been improved a lot. Don't worry.

I see. But, the MSI P55-GD65 indeed can handle 4.5Ghz-5.0Ghz Core i7 800-Series. But, you need Water Cooling to play safe.
Air-Cooling like Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme can handle 4.4Ghz-4.6Ghz without any problem(still very low temperature) at all.

yes gd65 capable of handling 4.5ghz-5ghz on Ci7 but on WC also cant reach 5ghz. 4.5ghz also already very hot. need to disable HT to reduce temp and stability.
entering 5ghz need more like chilled water or LN2...

Take Lower CL Timings RAM. LOL. They're better.
Amount(MB/GB) > Mhz > CL
Higher MHz allows more OC Power for your CPU. However, 1333Mhz's already more than enough for extreme OCing. For instance, Core i7 920 2.66GHz can OC to 4.4Ghz with it already using the 1333Mhz RAM. rclxms.gif
Lower CL Timings allows stabler CPU OC.
Amount of GB/MB is for overall performance. It won't affect CPU OC.

OCZ DDR3 - 1600 Mhz (Dual Channel Kit) FLEX EX Edition = OWNING!
Lower CL Timings and better Cooling System(Water)!
See here, http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memo...andwidth_series
Moreover, it have superior Warranty(allows Voltage Tweak on certain limit with no voiding of Warranty) if not mistaken! flex.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd say Thermalright Venomous X if you have the cash to spend, bare in mind there is no fan included..you need to buy two for optimum performance.
Ofcourse Tuniq tower is a good silent cooler too,but venomous X just pwn this cooler totally,u cant complain much for a cooler at this price point.
else just get CM Hyper 212 plus which just cost half of tuniq tower 120 extreme & perform almost the same..

For Ram?need to say more? its Corsair...(u may google for it) tongue.gif

Corsair stuffs are usually overrated and overpriced. I won't recommended it if there's better solution.

+1 to Thermalright Venomous X. It's BEST BANG FOR BUCKS!
If you're considering cheaper HSF, then, CM Hyper 212+.

Prolimatech Megashadows/Megahalems are not worth for bucks.

High CFM Fan will be better of course. But normal CFM Fan(even normal non-led CoolerMaster 120mm fan) will do. Gaining difference? A little bit.
You won't get much benefits from 2 FANs also(ultimate no rasa). LOL. So, 2 FANs are really optional.
