Nice win this morning, didn't watch the game but was pleasantly surprised by results all round. Suddenly the title race is back on, even if there's only a slim chance of it. During the run-in we need to go all out in every game, even if it's against Wolves at home. Oh, and Walcott needs to up his game or risk being sold.

The perfect arena to redeem himself is the Champs League game next midweek. IMO Walcott should start, as he usually plays well in these European games.

Keep a good run in the Champs League and the season end could be interesting indeed.

Some points from the game:

1. A really unfortunate accident to have happened to Ramsey, especially since he's just starting to have a good run in the first team. Hopefully he'll come back and improve tenfold like Diaby. All thoughts goes to him.

2. One thing I noticed during the incident was how Vermaelen was really struggling to cope with what happened, huffing into his hands and pacing around. And then, like a scene from some movie with the camera in his face, he was like "Screw this, I'm gonna brush this off and kick some Stoke City ass". His sudden change of look of steeled resolve was priceless.

3. The win was awesome and credit to some great performances from Clichy, Ramsey, Cesc, Campbell and Vermaelen. Clichy in particular was outstanding. He played intelligently through out the game, didn't concede any throw-ins and was generally solid defensively and offensively. It's like his decline in form over past year never happened.

4. The least performing players were Bendtner, Eboue and Song. Song, I thought, was shocking in the opening 15 minutes, playing like some 17-year old debutant - nervous, timid and indecisive. He improved to his normal standard in the second half though. His suspension is quite timely as well. I hope Eastmond comes in instead of Denilson.

Overall, a bittersweet win, but one that will only galvanise the players to achieve something. Let's hope a trophy materializes come season end. Come on Gunners!

Eboue tries alot of one touched that didnt suit his style of play, thats why he was performing in the game.

Though other than that, I agree with your comments smile.gif

There were no really poor performances among the players, but those 3 were the least performing IMO. Eboue was just invisible most of the time for a right-sided attacker, and did not what he does best - taking on players and putting dangerous balls into the box. That fierce shot from him was one of his good moments though. smile.gif

If we really want him, hopefully it's true and we've got this one out of the way, instead of dragging it til the last minute and eventually him signing for someone else.

An experienced stopgap keeper til Szczesny matures, a talented under-20 right back and an established first choice centre back, and we're set to go for next season~

Meanwhile... we need to win something this season to ensure the key players stay put... sweat.gif

I think Senderos will go as well. He's on a free, and Wenger won't stand in his way. He'll do well to sign permanently for Everton IMO.

Silvestre really has to go. Useless, slow and shows little of his "experience". Sell him, auction him off, pay a club to take him, anything really.

Djourou is a question mark. My few memories of him aren't to favourable, though he's still young. I remember him a bit timid and not being that dominant in the air despite being tall.

Gallas and Campbell beyond this season is debate as well. They may maintain their form, they may not. Knowing Wenger, he'll probably sign them on for one more year and wait til January to see if he needs a new CB.

The most obvious problem with this Arsenal team really is not squad depth, but an apparent continuously lengthy injury list every season. And it's not going away anytime soon so...

i was just about to say that. biggrin.gif hehehe... i think Nani and Hargreaves will go. Owen won't be offered extension and maybe they'll cash in on Obertan.

just IMHO.

And Vidic, probably. He looks he's on his way out, what with him playing considerably shit over the past year. Maybe their grand plan is to have the youngest CB pairing in Evans and Smalling.. haha...

In the next 3-4 years we'll probably overtake Man U as well in the rich list, provided we continue to make a sustained challenge in all competitions. In light of that...

Wenger's prudence has kept us floating thus far, but one day when all the debts are cleared, the questions will be:
1. Will he continue to be prudent, looking for bargain signings at the corners of the globe, instead of looking closer to home? and,
2. Will he continue with his youth approach, being patient and letting the youngsters room to improve while putting the challenge for trophies at risk (like Denilson, Song and Diaby - of which two of them came good..)?

We all know his philosophies, but when there's no more excuse to turn to, will failure be tolerated? hmm.gif

You wanted to actually say if there's no trophies in the cabinet next few years?

Let's say, for the sake of detaching this barren run with my question, we win 1-2 Carling Cups from now until that day when the debts are cleared. After that, do you think his current approach can bring about sustained success?

Fans wants to see trophies, totally acceptable.

After all you seen this season (compared it whatever year benchmark you want), do you honestly belief Arsenal have no chance to win EPL this season?

The other one I would like to point out as well, AW can change his policies. Remember how he didn't want/like to sign 30+ year old players? And now you see a 35 year old defender coming back.

I'm more concerned about how Arsenal is going to do without AW, than with AW.

No no, I agree with you. I guess the question's unrealistic, but more towards idealistic. I guess the gist of it is, "Can you win titles with kids?" really...
