Sigh now Diaby had a medial knee ligament injury against Porto and will be out for quite awhile.  doh.gif

Almunia and Song back. Arshavin, Gallas and Eduardo still out.

It doesn't matter who is out. As long as Wenger keeps on turning a blind eye to his side's shortcomings, Arsenal can never rediscover their swagger of the old. It was beautiful and powerful during the Henry, Bergkamp era. Now only pretty stuff happens, no steel whatsoever.

Fabregas would have done the same like Porto did with the freekick. Plus, I did not hear Wenger complained when Henry was doing this like nobody's business.

I believe most of us will feel okay if the freekick taker acknowledged the referee before taking it fast.

IINM, Henry did this before, but he verbally informed the referee first - correct me if I'm wrong though.

Anyway, the location of the freekick is "sensitive", the referee should had judged the situation more "rationally".

Are you sure about the feeling okay part cuz from my experience, its never OK when opponent score from a quickly taken free kick when you dun even have your wall yet. From the defending side POV, the ref should only allow the freekick to be taken once the wall is fully formed. From the attacking side POV, they would like to play it at the best possible opportunity available in order to score. So whose side should be given the benefit? Obviously the attacking side because they were fouled in the first place. I still can remember Chelsea and Aston Villa players protesting furiously about Henry's quick freekick surrounding the ref and all like a bunch of maniacs, no need to mention what Mourinho said then cuz he was absolutely livid.

You are right, Henry did asked the ref first b4 taking the freekick, but hey this is Champions League football, not Sunday league where you need to be seeing every opportunity available in order to score. That quick thinking is what makes the differences in tight Champions League clashes. Remember Giggs' quickly taken freekick goal v Lille a couple of years back. Lille players even threatened to stop playing as a sign of protest but thats what you call naivety. I'll take a quote from Alan Hansen, "Bob Paisely used to tell us, put a damn man in front of the ball everytime the opponent gets a freekick".

Well, how sensitive is your sensitive? How sensitive is the ref's sensitive? Thats why you get controversial decisions now and then cuz ultimately its down to the ref's judgement. These things tend to even out, remember Fabregas's blatant handball to block Liverpool's freekick? Well, the ref thought it was alright then laugh.gif
