I've never played Battlefield games before. From what it looked, it looks quite complicated with so many customization. Is the learning curve steep? Can I cope in BFBC2 without playing other BF games?

I played three chapters in the single player mode and it was boring. The graphics looks washed out and the gameplay feels stiff.
