ccnp,
Congrats. The first time you 'push start' your car, you'll reach 'heaven'. smile.gif
My mileage is almost 2K km.

QUOTE(iluvena @ Feb 14 2010, 12:31 AM)
guys,

just to share experience with you all.

1) if park at area with down hill slope, never ever move the car by simply releasing the hand brake (with N gear and ignition off) and control the movement with foot brake. the BAS is not there so the brake is not working. (or maybe have to press harder?). nearly lost control of my car and only able to stop them by pulling the handbrake.
so for precaution, should move the car with engine running or maybe with ignition on will do.

2) never ever leave thumb drive attached to the usb port when not in use. mine after 2 months seldom take out the drive from the port, now the thumb drive becoming dumb drive. i think spoilt already. actually it was stated earlier in the manual that we should not practice leave them attached when starting the car. this could result in damage to the thumb drive.  biggrin.gif havent check yet on the usb port. pray hard it is working fine and only the thumb drive spoilt.
*
I only left my USB in the port for a day or 2. Nothing wrong. smile.gif

weird.. when check on PC the thumb drive is fine.
then put back into usb slot in the car then able to read them back. hmmmm..
not sure what was wrong earlier.. (yesterday it shows could not read USB)

Walau, if your 512MB is old, then my 256MB is ancient!
Try a car with ABS & BAS & a car without. Got difference. When I first drove a Myvi, thought the brakes were good. After driving the Forte, went back to the Myvi, needed to press more to brake.

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Feb 14 2010, 01:22 PM)
For (1), no one should ever attempt to move a car without turning the ignition on. Putting the gear into N and releasing the handbrake regardless of any road surface is simply looking for trouble. No brakes, no proper steering, no engine and throttle, and no safety devices on... very dangerous.

For (2), like you said the manual did warn against leaving the USB plugged in. Leaving it in for short periods is pretty safe, but it's better not to risk losing your data. I usually leave the USB in but only in secured parking places or at home, otherwise I'd pull it out and hid the USB drive in the central storage or glove box. Keep it safe from prying eyes and itchy hands, even though nowadays thumb drives are a dime a dozen.

Anyway, a comparison between the interior of the K5 and the upcoming Sonata. The K5's console and dash is pretty reminiscent of the 5 series. The Sonata's is less cluttered with buttons but I'm no fan of the excessive curves.

that has nothing to do with how naza is as a 'screwdriver' (quote rafidah aziz) car company.........but the ability to get enough ap's and rebadge the cars as 'local'.............

btw, in case you don't know, what you pay naza is still significantly HIGHER than the REAL value of the cars......case in point, the forte/cerato 2.0 sells for aud25k in oz, or rm75k..........  sad.gif

Well, tell me how much the Honda City, Honda Civic, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla cost in AUD & then compare to Malaysia's price. Sure pengsan!

Yeah, sick of the attitude of the branch SAs. Really incompetent!
My SA gave me free full tank petrol & door visor. I said I don't want the visor coz I want cash. He said ok. After more than a month. called him, didn't pick up phone. SMS him to call me, didn't call me. Called the manager, she said my SA already ordered the door visor. I was like WTF???
Tried calling him again. Didn't pick up.
Before that, when register, told him to meet me at his branch at 8:30am & then go together to JPJ to register my car. When I reach the branch, he was nowhere to be found. Instead another helpful SA followed me to JPJ & settled everything for me.
Bought mine from Juru. Those who bought from Juru & bought from that SA will know who he is.
Those intending to buy from Juru & wanna avoid this SA, PM me.
Don't want to publish name here.

4te, r you from Penang? I'm still waiting for my car and I'm worried about the tinting part....coz I know they will need to take out the door panels to tint the side windows, and with all those "keyless" entry gadgets and wires I'm scared they might cause damage. Who do you recommend for tint job in Penang? "Delicate" one tongue.gif

ggeatweb,
If you install non-security film, don't need to take out door panels. I installed security film so they had to 'korek' out only the top part of the door panel. I did it in Sg Pinang, opposite Honda.
Bro 4te can recommend his friend doing tinting to you as well but it's in mainland.

Congrate all Forte owners.
I agree, most of the Naza SA's (branch) are completely inefficient! Buyers are the ones doing the chasing & documentation, etc. SAs just shake legs. Damn freaking idiotic.
Those getting from Juru Autocity, PM me, I recommend helpful & honest SA for you. Only 1, the rest I PENGSAN with them!!

Walau-eh, fuel tank empty still wanna rev. Not scared-ah? smile.gif
Try this: in 4th gear, press the accelerator pedal all the way down, see whether it downshifts for you or not. As far as I know it doesn't.

I remember during my test drive last time I forgot i was in shiftronic & in 4th gear, wanted to rev. The car felt like there was no surge in power. I thought walau-eh, how come no power-one. Then I realized I was in manual & it did not shift down to 3rd for me.

Guys,

Just found out that our Forte automatically switches off the headlights (does not have to be in auto mode) whenever we turn off the engine. If you place the stalk in headlight mode, when you turn off the engine, the small light is still on (indicated by green light in the instrument cluster) but after you open the driver's door to get out, it automatically turns off. smile.gif

its hold on some slopes but those steep slopes you'll need to use handbrake or brakes or press on fuel pedal a bit. its the autobox design nothing to worry about we just have to get use to it then its fine.
*
How many clicks of your handbrake do you guys usually pull up? Some ppl say 2 to 3 clicks more than enuf. I always pull to max. For Forte, even when you place the gear in 'P' & pull handbrake, it'll slide backwards a bit before stopping. Normal?
